Staying in Roseville

                                                                        7/30/12

ಹಲೋ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು, ( Halō kuṭumba mattu snēhitaru ) (Kannada)
Man what a fast week 6 this was.  Oh and I also want to thank the new viewers of this e-mail for being a part of this.  Sorry that I haven't emailed before. If you don't remember or know me, I'm Elder Morris and I served in your Nevada City ward.  Again I apologize for not emailing sooner, please forgive me. Any who let's get to the main point of the email,” MISSIONARY WEEKLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Missionary Weekly
Welcome to “Missionary Weekly”, where we see how the Lord’s servants are doing in the Lord's Vineyard. Today, we see how the last week actual did not go as well as we hoped, and transfer calls, who is staying and who is going.
Read about all this and more on, “Missionary Weekly” (BYU Weekly theme music).

July 24, 2012 - Happy “Pioneer Day” to everyone?  Oh, that's right we don't celebrate “Pioneer Day” here, like in Utah.  Sad day. Well I guess not all sad, we did celebrate it early, but no fireworks, very sad day. Oh well, next time. Today, we had our last District Meeting for this Transfer.  No, yay we also spent most of the day with a third missionary. He was from the 9th ward. His companion went to the temple, so we hung out with him for what seemed like all day, which wasn't bad.  He's awesome.  It was Elder Rasmussen, I love that kid he is capitol A Awesome. We also hadn’t had dinner that night so we ordered Mountain Mike's Pizza and hung out at the apartment till his companion came back.

July 25, 2012 - This day we spent most of our time visiting and Contacting with not much luck in the morning or the afternoon, but when it came to the evening time we did much better.   I guess it was because we were with Brother Tidwell our Ward Mission Leader, but sadly though people were either asleep or were part of another church or just too busy, but we did make contacts. Sweetness!!!

July 26, 2012 - EXCHANGES!!!!! It was the last exchange for this transfer. Yes!  I was actually excited for this one because I would be out of our area, sweetness. It went very well. The missionary I was with was Elder Rasmussen's companion Elder Thueson. He is a big guy, maybe a bit cocky but very motivated to share the gospel.  We had a very successful day. We taught three lessons and had a great homemade dinner.  We also had a long walk while tracting that I actually enjoyed. Which is kind of weird, but true. I guess if you do something for a while you get use to it.

July 27, 2012 - Lets see, we had our weekly planning today and an awesome lesson with Logan about recognizing the Spirit and scripture study. The spirit was so strong during that lesson. Sadly though, we didn't set a date yet, but we will soon. It takes time.

July 28, 2012 - Not much happen this day just visits and contacting.  Let’s see, we did visit Brother Meeks. He's doing well. He seems lonely a lot of the time, but loves it when we come by.

July 29, 2012 - Church was funny because the past few days I was thinking about what I'm going to do after my mission. One of the talks was about marriage. Yeah, talk about a red flag. Lol  It’s something I'm definitely considering.  Well, I guess according to my Mom, "You better get married!!" lol   Don't worry marriage is a part of my plan.  lol!! There were other talks as well on the Sabbath day worship, following the spirit and giving good gifts.  Oh, and I'm not getting transferred, just so you know and neither is Elder Leone, but there has been a lot of changes, which I'll talk about soon.

That's it for “Missionary Weekly”.  Join us next time when we see how the area is going to explode with great work!!!!

Now, we come to the 2nd main part of the email. Q & A CORNER!!!!!!!!!!!! The part of the show where we answer your questions about the work.

Q1.  Are you getting transferred?  I really hope that you and Elder Leone get to stay together.  How do you feel?  Is Roseville getting old or are you just getting started there?

A1. Nope, not getting transferred. Yes, we're still together. I feel like now I can really put myself out there to find those in need of the Gospel.

Q2.  What was the best part of this week?  What was a strange thing that happened this week?  What caused you a "Light Bulb" moment?  What did you hear and learn at Church yesterday?  Who told you something encouraging, inspiring or surprising this week?

A2. Best part of the week was the awesome dinners, with a couple of awesome families, the Tidwells’ and the Andersons’.  Nothing really strange happened just the usual.  A “Light Bulb” moment? Well, I had a feeling we should visit one of our investigators, but it turns out that we saw one of our potentials walking around and spoke to him for a while. He's doing well, enjoying life still, but not ready yet.  I wish I could remember the day a bit more.  We did visit a less active member and he said it was funny, because he was thinking about calling the bishop when we popped up. Yeah, we do that some times.  lol

Q3.  How are your investigators doing?  Do you have a Baptism date set for Logan?  Have you met with Rashan Surgess and his family?  How are Andrew and Nikki coming along in the lessons? I really get thrilled for you when you have people who want to listen and you have an opportunity to teach.  Remember to seek the spirit and follow the guide of the Holy Ghost.

A3. They are all doing well. We don’t have a date set for Logan yet. We tried to visit the Surgess family, but they weren't available. Andrew and Nikki are doing great. They're planning on moving out of the crappy apartment they're living in soon, so hopefully we'll still be able to teach them.

Q4.  Does your Zone Leader, District Leader or President Weston, know that your bike isn't fully functional?  Maybe someone at the Mission home could give you a name of someone who could fix it low cost?  If we can get parts and send them let me know?  I just want any hurdles like a broken bike to be removed so you can freely work and do what you need to.

A4. Mom, I thought you said the last email was going be the last one where you bug me about my bike. It’s fine.  Yes, they all know. Don’t send parts.  Brother Meeks knows someone who can replace it. I can figure it out. My bike is now a 2 and a 7 so I can go faster and handle hills better.

Q5.  I wish I could say I am in better shape but I can't.  What have you been doing to stay in shape?  Did you have anything new or different for dinner this past week?  Do you have a family that has you over for dinner appointments regularly?  Have you and Elder Leone cooked for each other?  Does Elder Leone have a special item he likes to fix for dinner?

A5. To stay in shape we, bike... walk... the usual.  Nope, we haven’t eaten anything new or unusual.  We've been pretty set with dinners. Not that I know of, we don’t cook much because we don’t need to.

Q6.  Today in sacrament the Sister Missionaries talked.  They talked on missionary work.  The whole block was on the theme of missionary work and how we can be missionaries in our neighborhood.  Have you talked in sacrament?  If you have was it scary or just felt routine?  Do the missionaries get asked to participate at church often?  Maybe you could visit the primary?  I love doing that as a Stake Primary Leader.

A6. I did once and that was during my 6 weeks in Chico. We don’t talk or participate often, but its been getting better that’s for sure. Ok, Mom I think you've been abusing the purpose of Q&A Corner.  lol.

Anyway, that's it for this email.  Thank you for reading.  Now it’s time for the fun third part and final part of the email.

"Mini-Mission" Program

                                         7/23/12
Witaj rodzina i przyjaciele (Polish)
What an Awesome week. Awesome with a capitol A, but man am I exhausted. Time for a snooze train... Ok e-mail first. I guess I should start off with BYU We-- I mean “Missionary Weekly”(bum, bum, bum).

Welcome to “Missionary Weekly”. Today, we see how the Roseville 3rd ward Missionaries do with a third wheel in their group? Also, we see what tacos and a
movie have to do with Pioneer Day? All this and more will be on “Missionary Weekly”.

July 17, 2012 – A, few weeks before we got a phone call from one of the Mission President's councilors telling us that we were getting a mini-missionary. A mini-missionary is a program that the Stakes and
I'm guessing the Church does. The program helps priest age young men to be better prepared to serve a mission. The Priest age young man serves with us for a time, usually a week, as a missionary. He is serving a mini-mission, does that make sense? So we started off the week with our new Mini-missionary. He was awesome. The funny part was that we had service in the morning at the service project Where we helped last week. We laid down some concrete and did some digging. We didn't do much, considering that there was a lot of people there, but it was fun. Then we went to work.  Oh, we also ran into an old guy named Earnest. Yeah, we were back to being taught what to do. He's a Catholic and he was just started going off on how we should go back to our origin and he thought I was Scandinavian. Yeah, try English/European, bud. Unless, Mom are you part Scandinavian? Oh, and also how the Catholics have the authority and a whole lot of other stuff. We asked if he read the Book of Mormon. He said, yes and he said he prayed, but I felt that he didn't. I was Impressed with how our mini-missionary handled it. He started to testify, but the guy still wasn't listening to us at all. Oh, well.

July 18, 2012 – “OYM”-ing really does pay off. In the morning we went out to walk around the park to find people to teach after trying to contact a few less-actives. No luck, until we said a prayer and
continued to walk and as we walked and walked and walked, we sang, just kidding we got called out by an older lady. We found out that she was a member. She was taking her grandchildren to the park. She told us that one of her grandsons, who is baptized, was 13 turning 14 in August. He is preparing to receive the Aaronic Priesthood. She wanted us to talk to him about it and so we did. The lesson went great and he really understood it well. Later that day we had interviews. Yeah, Ok, it wasn't that bad. It actually went well, I think. I'm definitely overcoming my fear of interviews more. We just talked about my mission and how it’s going and how everyone was doing at home. You know the usual stuff.

July 19, 2012 - This day was full of contacting and tracting. Yay, it was pretty good with the mini-missionary, I mean Jacob Smith. I mean Elder Smith or Brother Smith?  He did a pretty good job. I was impressed. I wish I had done a mini-mission. Hey, Martin you should see if you could do it. you'll love it man. You would get to experience what it’s like to
be me, kind of, I guess?

July 20, 2012 - Mini-missionary goes home, sad day. He was soooo trunky. Just kidding. lol After he left we went and did our weekly planning and  paper work. Yeah, it was great fun. Then after that we spent the rest of the day contacting. We did have a lesson
with Andrew and Nikki. Andrew is a Non-member and Nikki is a Member who is less active. It was fun in a way. I guess Nikki loves to talk and tell stories about when she was with her family. Oh, Andrew and Nikki are a young couple in their early 20's young, but so fun. Lol We are planning on baptizing Andrew soon. We are going to set a date next week… or I guess this week.

July 21, 2012 - Ward activity night. So, we had an awesome activity to have members invite non-members to. We had a “Movie in the park” kind of thing. We had a taco bar for dinner and they watched “17 Miracles”.
We couldn't watch it because its not made by the church. Dang... It was a great success, though. Lots of people came and some were non-members as
Well. It was sweet!!!!

July 22, 2012 - Sunday was one day we picked up a new investigator, kind of. His name is Rashan Surgess he's from LA and is married. He has 5 kids. I think I never really saw them, but very interested and hopefully we can pick up the family.

That's it for “Missionary weekly”. Join us next time to see the results of transfers. Now for the fun but tiring part of the email, Q&A!!!!!

Q1.  How are you both holding up in the heat?  I saw that it was 102 degrees there today (Sunday).  Wow, and we thought our 98 degrees was hot.  It pretty much stays in the mid 90s here.  How is it in Roseville?

A1. We're fine. It’s a bit hot. Ok, a whole lot of hot. Yeah, it’s weird. For a few days its 87 and 88 then it jumps to 100 or 102 degrees, talk about a jump.

Q2.  Have you set a Baptism Date for Logan?  Who are you teaching now? Anyone who is really listening and feeling the spirit?  Did you have any special moments with your investigators this week?

A2.  Not yet, the family is out of town for a couple of days, soon though soon. Not a whole lot... just the usual and nothing too big. We tried to invite a few of our investigators to “17 miracles” but none of them came.

Q3.  Did you get my email about your pant length?  I hope to get a package out to you this week with garments, socks, shirts and slacks. I really want to help you out just let me know what you need?  Can you
believe your 1 year mark is coming soon?  I have a special surprise for you when that day gets here.

A3. Yes, I did get the email and it’s a 36X30, but if you want to be safe you could do a 32 length if you want. I know. Can you believe it? It’s CRAZY!!!!

Q4.  Have you done anything else with your bike?  I feel bad that you are riding a bike that doesn't shift gears especially in the heat. How can we help with that? I know transfers will be coming in a week. That time sure moves fast.  Do you feel you will transfer or that Elder Leone will transfer?  How long did you say he has been out?

A4. Well, I had the bike working just fine until last week, then it fell of again and I'm now back into 2nd gear. Oh well, I'll see what I can do. I'm fine for now. I don't think any of us are going to get transferred. I think I'll stay for one more then get transferred. Elder Leone's been out for 20 months about.

Q5.  I will try to get your photos scanned and on your mission site this week.  I did get your photos from Nevada City on the site today. Can you make sure we have a copy of a photo of Elder Mansell and Elder Leone?  Martin loved the drawing and letter.  Lydia loved her letter too! You are a good brother. I will try to kick them and get them to write you this week!

A5. Sure thing.

Q6.  What was the best thing that happened this week? What was the hardest thing that happened this week? What new thing did you learn this week? What was your favorite scripture while reading this week? What was the funniest thing that happened this week?

A6. The Best thing would probably be having a Mini-missionary. The hardest thing would be braving the heat. A new thing I learned is that sacrifice is
Important, even if its hard. Favorite Scripture that I read would probably be Mosiah 27. It’s about Alma and the Sons of Mosiah. It goes to show that whoever turns from the church can come back. The funniest thing I think that the whole time with the Mini missionary. It was a fun time and we always had something to laugh about.

Well I guess that's all for this e-mail. I will be sending a snail mail soon, with more info on other stuff. Here comes the sad part, the ending.
Safety and peace, God bless and if you sneeze during this email bless your face ગુડબાય (Guḍabāya), baik, Undang Auf Wiedersehen! HOT, HOT, HOT.....

Dear Family and Family,
I now consider all who read these emails my family, not just friends.... ok maybe a few. Anyways, I promise to TRY and keep this email short, but what's the fun in that. lol!!!! Let's move to “Missionary Weekly”!!!!

Missionary Weekly!!!
Welcome to “Missionary Weekly” where we view the harvest in the Lord’s field!!!!
July 10, 2012 - USUALLY we have a District meeting in the morning on Tuesday, but the night before the Zone Leader told us that they were planning on having a Zone Meeting on Wednesday instead. We decided to do a survey that President Weston wanted us to do.  We did it and it was quick. Then we had to go to the Stake Center for an interview for one of the other missionary’s investigators. The funny part was that the interview was supposed to be at 12:30, but the investigator's Dad took forever to get there so we had the interview at 1:25 pm.  We didn't have lunch till two o'clock, so we had a late lunch. Luckily though our dinner canceled.  We were so full all day from eating at Costa Vida!!!! lol!

July 11, 2012 - Zone Meeting!!!! Today we talked about setting Goals and Making Plans and how we can make realistic goals and work to achieve them. It was well done and the Zone Leaders did a great job putting it together. After that we had a long lesson, well more like a long chat with one of the less actives we're teaching. Well, I guess I would really not label him less active, more like Semi-Active. He wanted us to bring him two Book of Mormons, so he could give one to his friend and one to his Cousin. He's already doing his job. lol

July 12, 2012 - Weekly planning and a HOT, HOT SUMMER SUN!!!!! It was 108 F.  SOOOOOOOOO HOT!!!!!!

July 13, 2012 - Exchanges!!!! Today I was in 1st Wards area. We started off the day with a long morning of service, a long morning starting at 7:30 am and going till 1:30 pm. I was so tired that day and the next day as well. Then we had a couple of lessons and also had dinner with a family that moved from West Jordan UT. 5 years ago. They were in the River Oaks Stake. I think that’s right next to Bingham Creek Stake? So yeah, sweetness!!!! It was a good exchange. It’s nice to be in someone else’s area.

July 14, 2012 -Today we went through our list of people so fast that the day just flew by. Not much has happen though, I feel like we're at a dead end with finding more people to teach.

July 15, 2012 – Sunday was an interesting one. lol Church was good. It was the after Church part that was interesting. The night before we planned on reaching our goals for other lessons, so we went out to OYM, but only got one other contact. Then we had to biked about 3 or 3.5 miles to our next lesson. That went very well. It was getting late and we stopped to talked about what we should do before we went in for the night.  All of a sudden two Hot Girls, I mean fine young women drove by yelling "I LOVE JESUS!!!!" We kind of chuckled and ignored it. As missionaries we get that a lot. lol  So, we decided to visit a potential investigator.  As we were leaving, the same girls that yelled at us, pulled up beside us.  They started to ask us about our missions and so we gave them a pass along card. We told them to check out Mormon.org and answered some of their questions. Maybe they'll check out Mormon.org? lol After that we went inside and ended our day.

NOW for Q&A!!!!!! Sorry, if this seems short.

Q1.  How are your investigators, less-actives and contacts?  Have you been doing lots of tracting?  Did you get any new referrals?  Have you set a Baptism Date for Logan?  How exciting for him.

A1. They're doing fine, I guess. We have been having trouble contacting people or finding new investigators.  I guess it’s because it’s the summer months and everyone is on vacation. As for Logan, we have not set a Baptism date yet, but soon though.

Q2.  What was the best thing about this past week?  What was a challenge this week?  What message at Church do you remember and that made an impression on you?  Did you meet your personal goals?  I know you did, because you are amazing!

A2. What was the best thing this week? I think it would be either exchanges or going to Costa Vida for lunch. I can't really choose between those two things. A challenge? My bike, 'nuff said.  Church? There is nothing too big to tell. The talks were mainly about service, missionary work and loving those that hate you. Did I meet my goals? Well, not really, but close though.

Q3.  Weather, well you know the question.  Is it hot?  How are you both coping?  It has been strange here in Utah, rain here and there, but still hot.  Upper 90s is cool for us.  The rain was very welcome to my garden.  Of course, Crissy was in heaven.  She loves the rain.  They actually had a fire in Tooele on the mountain but it was taken care of quickly.

A3. Hot for the first part of the week, but now it’s going to be in the 80's this week. Yesssss, so excited!!! I wish we had a little rain we've been sunny all week long.  We’ve been sunny since the end of May I guess.

Q4.  I promise to get you that "Camp Heleman" shirt to you soon.  Is there anything you need?  How are your slacks, white shirts and socks holding up?  Be sure to let me know if you need anything at all.

A4. I might need some slacks maybe just one or two and I definitely need more socks. All my socks are either gone missing or have holes, except the ones with stars.  They are holding up well.  Maybe if you could send those kind of socks and garments (36 waist and large regular tops).

Q5.  How is Elder Leone doing?  Have you done anything nice for him this past week?  What is something you think is a special talent or gift that Elder Leone has?  What do you both like to do on p-day besides your domestic chores?

A5. He's doing well. Yes, as a matter of fact, we came back for lunch one day and I just felt like making popcorn. It was just sitting in there, so I popped some. I saw that when I filled the cup you sent me, that there was more. Elder Leone was asleep and so, I put the rest of my popcorn in his cup and put it on his desk.  I guess that should count, right? Talents?  Elder Leone has talents in leadership skills, piano skills, and num-chuck skills... jk, just the first two. We play basketball and piano on p-days.

Q6.  Do you think they will celebrate the Days of 47 in Roseville?  We used to celebrate in Idaho.  We had a parade and everything.  Have you heard anything in Church or from President Weston about special events on July 24th?  I think it is a church-wide day of remembrance for the pioneers.

A6.  Maybe, but I don't think it'll be that big just a small celebration.

Wow I tried to keep it short. lol  Oh well, I guess this is the end of the email.  Sorry about the job interview, Dad. Hopefully it'll be better next time. Hey, maybe the reason you didn't get the job was because the Lord wanted you to be with your family for the reunion? Think about it.

Safety and peace, God bless and if you sneeze during this email bless your face. ગુડબાય (Guḍabāya), baik, Undang Auf Wiedersehen! Requesta de pache (rest in peace), Molto Bene, الوداع, Alsons y, bonum devium, 再見 (Zàijiàn), Arrivederci!, zbogom, अलविदा (Alavidā), Hwyl fawr, kwaheri,tạm biệt, sudie, Tot ziens, elveda, smell ya later, Noice, Nofo a. Until next time this is Elder Morris in Roseville singing out, Peace on!!!! Do, do, do, do, do, do email.

Happy 4th of July

                                         7/9/12
Kaixo Familiako eta lagunak, (Basque)
What a crazy 4th of July week. But before I get to far a head of myself, Mom I did not get the package as of yet. They left a note telling me to pick it up at the post office because they need confirmation that I got it. Yeah, we've been super busy and we haven't been able to pick it up yet, but we will today when we go with the Zone Leaders to go shopping. Other than that our 4th of July week was filled with many pops and bangs. The bangs and pops were not directed at us, or anything like that. I guess we'll head to “Missionary Weekly” to explain more about it.
Welcome to “Missionary Weekly”, where we see the Lord’s soldiers in battle against evil. Today: PoP. BaNg, BOOM! Wishing a “Happy 4th of July” to all Americans. We see how the missionaries use the Holiday to their advantage. Read all this and more on this week’s special edition of “Missionary Weekly”.

07/03/12 - The best way to start a week of missionary work is by having a good breakfast, exercise, uplifting meeting and JOY DROPPING US? NOOOOOOOOO... Yes, we headed out to our lesson with Joy and I realized, yes I, forgot to call and invite a priesthood holder to come with us for the lesson. We decided to reschedule our lesson with Joy. Since we were already there we decided to go up and ask her right there in person. As we started to explain why we needed to reschedule, she invited us in. She told us she had to tell us something. Immediately my stomach jerked, my thoughts started to race on what she wanted to tell us. Did she get an answer that it was true or does she not want to meet with us any more? Just an F.Y.I. it was the second answer... or question... or whatever. My fears were realized She said, "I don't think I want to continue with these meetings anymore. I feel I've learned enough and I feel that I'm betraying my old religion." My heart broke and I know that sounds a little corny, but I felt we made good progress with her. I really thought she was going to get baptized. When that happened I was devastated. First Dwight and now Joy? Even though I didn't know them as a good friend does, I still felt bad that they would give it up, after hardly ever reading any of the Book of Mormon. I mean the truth is in front of them, pretty much doing a jig in front of them and they ignored it. Today, as in the 9th, we were watch the “Preach My Gospel” DVDs and at the end one of them a missionary said, "you know it doesn't matter if the person doesn't get baptized this transfer, it matters that we taught and help them come closer to Christ." I'm just paraphrasing that, but basically it means that it doesn't matter whether Joy gets baptized while I'm here, it matters about the effort I put into teaching her. Oh and she wanted to give the Book of Mormon back but we didn't want another “Dwight moment” so we told her to keep it and gave her a few chapters to read.

07/04/12 - Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!!! This was actually, in a surprising way a successful day missionary work wise. We went out to do less-active contacting and were able to meet and talk with most of them. lol Then we headed back to our apartment so we could be ready for President Weston to pick us up. I was nervous at first, but Elder Leone was all chill about it and so I relaxed a bit. Once President Weston pulled up I notice he was chill too, not to say I was
surprised, but I was a little bit surprised by that. lol So when we got there the other missionaries from our district showed up, except one (they already
had plans). Also Elder Arnett and Elder Natane showed up (They're the Zone leaders in Citrus Heights). It was a big Party!!!! My friend and trainer, as well as the other missionaries from my district made it a blast. We also sang “Happy Birthday” to Elder Frank, our Zone Leader. His birthday is on the 4th so all of the missionaries and the Weston family, sang Weston style (we all sing Happy Birthday at different times and different pitches). Lol We had a blast!!!! Sadly though, firework status was not the best (NONE).

07/05/12 - EXCHANGES!!!!...Yay! Today we did exchanges with the 9th Ward. Elder Rasmussen and I were in my area. I was pretty psyched. I love hanging out with that kid he is always fun to hang around with. Sadly, the day wasn't as productive as it could have been. We actual did some tracting. Oh, check this out the road we were tracting on had a yard sale but no one was out so I decided as a fun tracting approach we should check it out. We knocked at the door and asked if they were having a yard sale and they said yeah. We asked, “Do you mind if we look around?” They said, “They were eating, but sure.” So, we went into the tent to look at some shirts, and of course they were all too small, then she opened the Garage and I saw a New Translation Bible with the Apocryphal and other books. Part of it I thought was interesting and so I used that to get a conversation going. Sadly though, she wasn't that interested, but I kept the conversation going  by talking about some of the other stuff she had and apparently something stirred because she let us have a CD I was eyeing, which I might send home because it's not mission approved. It’s a sound tract to one of my favorite movies, so yeah I'm going to have to send it home. I guess that approach wasn't as successful as I hoped. Oh well, I guess people just have the 4th
of July hangover. lol. We did have a lesson with Mara, it was a short one because it was getting late, but it was about faith and she really liked it.

07/06/12 - We had a lesson with Logan this day. It went very well. Not much to say, except we committed him to Baptism, not to a date yet, but this week we will set the date.

07/07/12 - I think this day we spent more time outside than any other day this week. My arms are so brown now. lol Still people were not home. Ok, I can say that half the people were home, but mostly in the morning. I believe that’s the best time to visit less-actives, in the morning. lol

And that's all for BY-, I mean “Missionary Weekly”....

Man, I see why you love my emails Mom and maybe the rest of you, I guess. Time to change programs to Q&A CORNER!!!

Q1.  How is the weather?  Did you feel the earthquake that happened in Northern California Sunday morning? It was 4.3 and was centered close to San Francisco.  Are you two staying cool and taking care of yourselves?

A1. It’s hot! Lets leave it at that. Nope, I didn’t feel the earthquake. Yep, we are staying cool when we can and taking care of ourselves.

Q2.  Tell us about your 4th of July.  What did you end up doing?  Did you really do much door knocking?  I would think people would all be at parks or family BBQs. lol  I hope you got a traditional hamburger or hotdog.

A2. *Please refer to 07/04/12....

Q3.  How was this week with Joy and Logan?  We always keep them in our prayers.  I have good feelings about them both.  I hope you can reach them with your testimony and teaching.  Just have faith and let the spirit lead you while teaching them.

A3. *Please refer to Missionary Weekly

Q4.  What was the best thing about this past week?  What was the hardest thing about this past week?  What is something new that you learned or taught this past week?  What was the most interesting thing you heard or saw this past week?  Share whatever made the biggest
Impressions upon your mind - curious minds want to know.

A4. The Best? You tell me? I guess the 4th of July Dinner/BBQ with The Weston Family. The Hardest? Just read “Missionary weekly”.... Matt 14:27-32. I learned t how to apply our work to Helaman 5:12. I don't know, I wish I knew what my mind is saying. It feels like it’s going 200 mph!!!!

Q5.   What is your goal for this coming week?  What do you personally want to accomplish this coming week? What is something you would like to learn about in your studies this coming week?  What is something you would like to change this coming week?  How do you plan to make that change happen?

A5. Talk with Everyone. Like always, find someone to teach. There’s nothing in particular I want to learn, just whatever the Lord feels that I need to know. I want to just really work on everything and to improve. I plan to work, work, and work, what more can I say?

Q6.  The pictures of the Temple were nice.  Wish it had been daylight. I have found some great pictures on the Internet of Roseville City. Have you seen anything in the area that you really like? Or that surprised you? What is the best thing about Roseville?  What don't you like about Roseville City?

A6. I haven’t found anything surprising. I don’t like any area in Roseville in particular really, just Sunsplash Water park, which I can't go to. The best thing about Roseville, I don't know, just the abundance of members? What I don't like? Let’s save that answer for later ok?

Well I guess that's it for this email. I wish I could write more, but that would take Days!!!

New Investigator!

                                         7/2/12
خوش خاندان اور دوستوں (Urdu)
What a long week. It was nice to hear from all of you guys. I was glad that I got Dad's e-mail, and it's good now that you're all out of school. Now maybe you'll actually get some family time. lol That's sad that you won't be able to do fireworks. It’s also sad to hear about all the fires that have been burning. Lots of people are talking about it here, as well as the fires in Colorado Springs. Man its crazy being away from the news and the outside world. lol Now let’s hit up the “Missionary Weekly”!!!!!
Welcome to Missionary weekly where we join the workers in the vineyard. Today we see how all the investigators are doing in the Roseville 3rd ward.

06/26/12 - We had our weekly visit with Joy today. We invited Sister Wunderli and Brother Garcia along for the lesson. She seemed a lot happier this day. I think that she is just lonely and wants to talk to people. I was a little nervous bringing two people around, but we felt that she needed to meet with sisters of the ward. We can't get in without a priesthood holder so I guess we'll have to work with it. Like I said she really loves it when we come by.

06/27/12 - I can't remember what I did this day. I guess I'll just make it up? We committed 82 people to baptism for this Saturday, ok I guess not. We did have to fix Elder Leone's bike because his rim busted. We went to the bike shop close to us and apparently they were out of his type of rims. We called the Zone Leader's to get a ride to another place and once we got there we found out that they too were out of those rims. So we were stuck for a bit. Then we decide to try this one place to see if we could find one. When we went there they had one and they fixed it. We then ate at Coasta vida (we ate Coasta Vida for lunch 4xs this week and surprisingly enough members paid for us 2 of those times). By this time, most of our day was spent and thank goodness that we didn't have any appointments set.

06/28/12 - This day we had a weekly DL/ZL meeting, well my companion did. I just hung out and played some piano.
06/29/12 - We had a lesson with a referral today. It was a member referral and he is so legit. His name is Logan and he lives with his relatives in our Ward. He's from New Mexico and he is interested in his family’s beliefs. So, yes we got a new investigator. Oh and later that night we were in the process of doing exchanges with the Zone Leaders when a guy walking his dog said he could you get this pug. Apparently there
was a stray Pug by our apartment. We took the dog and tried to find his owner, but we could not find his family. We had no choice but to take the dog into our apartment, and wait. It wasn't until about 9:40 that night the owners came by looking for it. So yeah, I had a pet dog for about 45 minutes. lol

06/30/12 - Exchanges and more Coasta Vida, BOO YA!!!

07/01/12 - Happy July day!!!! This Sunday was an odd Sunday, well in a way. You know that we, in Church, usually sing patriotic songs for Opening and Closing Hymns. People usually bare testimony on Freedom and Patriotic things? Yeah, there was only one patriotic song and one Testimony on freedom. I mean don't get me wrong, that's good and all, but I guess I shouldn't expect the expected. lol

That's it for missionary weekly join us next time when we see how a missionary spends the 4th of July.

Ok, time for a quick Q&A Corner. Welcome ___--- No time....

Q1. Start with my favorite questions.  What was the best thing that happened this week?  What was the worst thing that happened this week?  What made you laugh out loud?  What made you feel really good about the work? Who inspired or impressed you this week?

A1. The Best thing was having another person to teach. The worst thing was getting a softball in the side at P-day today. Actually, that might be more like a “Laugh-out-loud” moment. Lol It was so funny. King Benjamin’s address in I think Chapter 4 about the Poor who don't have a lot have enough for him to go day to day was something that made me feel good about the work.  King Benjamin impressed me.

Q2.  How are your investigators and less-actives?  How is Joy doing? What did you learn while teaching a lesson this week?  Are you writing all about all these people and experiences in your journal?  What seems small now may be huge later in your life.

A2. They're all doing well. We have lots of appointments set up this week. What did I learn? Listening really helps. Yes, Mom I am writing in my journal.

Q3.  What has the weather been like in Roseville?  Are you doing Ok on the bike and in the heat?  Are you and Elder Leone staying hydrated and cool during the day?  Take good care of each other and listen to what your body says, stop when you need to take a break and drink cold water.

A3. Warm and HOT!!!! Yeah, I'm doing well.

Q4.  Have you met any special ward members that you appreciate?  Have you had any especially great dinners at member homes?  Who do you look forward to seeing at Church on Sunday?  How do you participate in Church on Sunday?

A4. Yes, Brother Edwards, we had dinner with him and his family and after we shared our message, he asked right there if he could come out with us to go on a visit and we did. At Church we just substitute in Gospel Principle's Class when needed.

Q5.  Send some pictures of your apartment and companion.  I would enjoy seeing what both look like.  Is there anything you are wondering about or want to hear about?  Have you heard from anyone this week that surprised you?  Maybe Dad will get a letter written now that he is off work for summer.  You just never know. lol

A5. I just sent pictures this morning. Hope you like them and the letter that comes with them. Let’s see not really I got the one from Aunt Karen that was awesome!!!

Q6.  Do you and Elder Leone have plans for the 4th of July?  Do missionaries have restrictions on that day? Do you need to be in early that night?  Does your Zone or District get together for holidays?  Take care and be safe.  You know some people take the holiday to drink it up and do stupid things.  Stay where you know you will be safe that day.  Happy Independence Day!!

A6. We are planning to have dinner with President Weston and his family and the rest of our district, but other than that just a full proselyting day. The only restriction or tip is to just be careful at night.

Well that it for this email. You know the song....
