Baptism this Week!

Sveiki Šeima ir Draugai, (Lithuanian),
What an Ubber long week. It feels like it’s been four weeks since I emailed. Today it feels like everything is moving 120 mph, and it's really getting to me, but enough of my stupid drama. Let's move on to some fun stuff, yes? Oh and I did get the Easter package you sent me Mom. I love the tie.  It’s one of my favorites and the pin is nice too. Elder Buhler really liked the Chocolates you sent him too. I was just going to take them for myself. ( ha ha ha) Just kidding. Things have just been very odd but interesting this week. Wait, why am I telling you this.  How about we check out “Missionary weekly”.........(Click)... Hey, welcome Mission Chief where we...(Click).... Welcome back to around the world in 2 years or less... (click).... Hello and welcome to “Missionary Weekly”, where we check out what the Missionaries are doing in the field. Today we go back to Nevada City and see how the Missionaries there are helping others to come unto Christ. We see what's cooking in their kitchen, as well as seeing how GPS' can lead you a stray as easily as pushing a button. All this and more will be on “Missionary Weekly”.
Missionary Weekly

04/10/12 - A missionary’s purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.  These missionaries sure did that, as they were teaching Shaun, one of their investigators. Elder Buhler felt impressed to commit Shaun to baptism. All the while, his Companion was trying to stay as focused as he could without sneezing his brains out. They committed them to May 12 since that doesn’t seem that far away, that was until they checked their calendar. It was in fact 5 weeks away.  They discussed whether or not they should move it up. (Oh and just an F.Y.I. I'm doing better now)

04/11/12 - District Meeting was today.  All missionaries in the Auburn North District came together and had a review of the Apostasy and the Restoration. They also learned how to teach it.

04/12/12 - ARP meeting was today.  The Elder's of Nevada City went and visited their good friend Russ and had one of the most spiritual experiences this transfer.  They shared Mormon messages with him, "Choose ye this Day" and "Come what may and love it". "It was silent and he just started to bare his testimony.  I was over powered, but not to tears. “I felt the spirit" said Elder Morris, "It was amazing." Sadly though, he didn't want to come to ARP because he decided to do some more soul searching.

04/13/12 - Friday was one of the up and down days of missionary work. One of the appointments we had with another investigator fell through.  Later that night we had a great dinner with Shaun and his Family and had an awesome lesson.  Ok, it was more like watching church DVDs, but other than that it was great. We had a good time.  It went on till 9 when, Elder Morris said, “We have to go or we will be here all night”.

04/14/12 - You know how GPS' are supposed to help you find your way? Well it looks like for these missionaries that's quite the opposite.  We were trying to find a referral, but somehow our GPS led us to the outskirts of Pike City. We were 30 miles from where we live. We found out once we got to where the GPS told us to go, that we passed our destination about 10 or 12 miles back. A nice person, the only person around for miles, pointed them in the right direction.  By the time they got to the right home, the person the Loma Rica Elders wanted them to visit, discovered that they don’t live there.  It was a sad and frustrating day.

04/15/12 - Somewhat still disappointed about the referral, the two companions go to church, partake of the Sacrament and enjoy the rest of the services. The member, who was supposed to feed them that night canceled, said she'd find someone to replace her.  She did and we had Lasagna. The members who were feeding us invited us to go on a hike with them.  We said,  “Sure why not?"  We did go and we really enjoyed it.

That’s it for this week in “Missionary Weekly”...

Yeah, what a week... and it gets even better. Today we have a lesson with Shaun and his wife (Member) and they want to move the date to the 21st of April.  Yes, it’s this week!  We're going to be busy this week.  “HOLY CRAP!!!!”

Ok, ok, lets see what else is on...(click)... Q & A Corner!!!!! Welcome Back folks your just in time for the Bonus round!!!! Yeh!!!!

Q1. Have you had any new driving experiences? Any crazy and wild things happen to you this past week?

A1. Nope, as for crazy things.... we almost hit a squirrel or two maybe... nope nothing to big!!!

Q2. How many lessons did you teach this week? Any new investigators or fewer actives that you are teaching? Tell me more about Russ? Tell us about the Blendez Family too?

A2. Like 4 or 5 this week.  It’s hard when you don't have a lot of investigators or less-actives that want to hear you.  Just Shaun wants to listen to lessons currently. Russ, good ole Russ, he's a Sharpener.  He sharpens blades and such. He likes hunting. He has a German Shepard named Angel, who barks at us a lot. He really wants to come back to Church, but is afraid of messing up again.  He comes to church every Sunday looking a bit rough around the edges, but is really a nice guy when you actually get to know him. The Belendez family, are an exciting bunch. The whole family is members. They have all boys and the youngest is the craziest out of all of them. Lol He likes to run around, play games and all that jazz. I swear that kid has more energy than a power plant, but they're always fun to hang around.  The mother works on Sunday, so she can't make it to church. The rest of the family comes. The oldest is 14, then 12, then 10, and then 6 years old.  The family reminds me so much of our own. Lol Always brings me back to the good old days.

Q3. How is the weather there? Are you getting sunshine and flowers? We have had lots of rain and clouds. It is also still kind of chilly. That always makes Crissy, happy. She will have to give into the Sun sooner or later. LOL

A3. It’s as sunny as ever. It is very green and flowery. As we drive to church we drive by a field of Buttercups.

Q4. What was the best thing that happened this week? What was the worst thing that happened? What is your new goal for this week? What do you want to accomplish?

A4. The best thing was getting someone to commit to baptism and the worst would have to be having to drive down to Roseville to get our tires changed. What a pain in the butt that was.  My goal this week is to get out and do work.  I want to accomplish: “Finding” more people to teach.

Q5. What is something new you learned about Elder Buhler? What did you do for him this week? Did you tell him "Thank You" for something this past week?

A5. He believes you should continue to study even when you have nothing to do.  I cleaned the kitchen, for Elder Buhler and myself.  Yes, I thanked him ... for driving.

Q6. What scripture did you read during your studies that impressed you or had an impact in your day? Do you and your roommates have FHE on Mondays? Tell us about your roommates? Send Pictures of roommates, companion and apartment. You know a picture is worth a thousand words; I need to see you to know you are well. LOL

A6. I wish I had them with me, but Elder Buhler showed me this one in 2 Nephi 12:2.  Go to the word mountain in that verse and start at the letter U and go down 4 letters. What does it spell?  We don’t really have a FHE, not really.  My roommates are the same as always, like I said in the past emails. There is Elder Knight, Elder Gillen, Elder Buhler and I in our apartment.  Elder Knight, from Salt Lake City, Ute fan, Leslie's Cousin, smart kid, likes to bash for fun or just argue. Lol Elder Gillen, district leader, a stud, farm boy from Colorado, big kid, typical farm boy, the 20th of April is his Birthday, he goes home July 31st, and is very confident. Elder Buhler funny kid, 21, been out 6 1/2 months, gamer, good missionary, funniest son of a gun you'll ever meet.

That's it for this round of Q&A Corner join us next time for...
