"Greenie Fire"

Hey Family and Friends.... (English)                      9/25/12
Man what a crazy week, lets just get to the gist of it... “MISSIONARY WEEKLY!!”

MISSIONARY WEEKLY

September 18, 2012 - Had an awesome lesson with a former investigator, who picked us again last Sunday. I found out it was Brian Herring's Mom, so we had a lesson and Brian was there as our fellow shipper!!!! It went so well!!!

September 19, 2012 - Exchanges!!!! I was in Paradise (1st area) and I was with Elder Edwards, the new Greenie. lol!!! It went great and he has so much “Greenie fire”, and it passed to me. I really opened up and had a little more faith in myself. I learned how miracles come to pass, when you are really doing your best.

September 20, 2012 - Not much happen this day just the same ole same ole. lol!!!

September 21, 2012 - Fricken exchanges again, but it was with my OLD MTC Comp, Elder Spjute.  Man, it was sooooo tight!!!! We had so much fun.  We also had some great lessons, but one of the lessons kind of backed fired and went a little down hill, but the rest of the day went well!!!

September 22, 2012 – Well, I am drawing a blank.  Don’t remember.

September 23, 2012 - Sunday STAKE CONFERENCE!!!! Elder Packer of the 70 came and spoke to us. Loved it.

Q & A CORNER!!!!

Q1.   What was the best thing that happened this past week?  What was the worst or hardest thing about this past week?  What made you smile this week?  What made you say a prayer this week?

A1.  The Best thing was probably being on exchanges with Spjute!!! The hardest thing well probably, I don’t know? What made me smile? I think just being able to see my old friends from Chico 5th Ward. Just going through the hard times always makes me pray.

Q2.   (Martin) - Greg Guzzle is going to Italy for his mission.  Are you surprised about that?  What do you want to know about Halo 4?  It is coming out soon.  Don't want to distract you from your work, though.  Does your new companion like X-box games?  Memory is the key and the sword is the key too!

A2. DUDE NO FRICKEN WAY.  THAT IS SOOO TIGHT about Greg Guzzle!!!! I would like to know EVERYTHING YOU CAN TELL OR SHOW OR SEND ME about Halo 4. LOL!!! Yeah, my companion likes X-box a little bit. He likes Magic Cards more though and he made me a deck to play with on P-days. Maybe you could send me my Dragon and Knight decks? lol You don't have to.

Q3.   (Lydia) - How many Book of Mormons have you given away?  How many investigators do you have?  What is your favorite lesson when you teach new investigators?  I am still reading the Book of Mormon, but I'm sure I am way behind you. lol

A3.  Not a lot over all, probably 5 or 6 to investigators and 20-25 to members over my whole mission. We have a few investigators. Lots of potential investigators, we just need to find the ones that are ready to listen.  The Restoration is my favorite lesson.  Yes, I am now in Alma 50.

Q4.   (Dad) - Are you still practicing the piano?  Did you want us to send you some sheet music?  Lydia has started trying to play your guitar.  Remind us which pianist you want to get a CD of.  Who did you like to listen to?

A4. Yeah, I'm still practicing and I’m getting better. Sure, I just don't know what ones. I have a few and I also have Hymns made easy.  I practice a few hymns in there as well. Ok, I think I told you a dozen times, but the names are Jon Schmidt and Steve sharp Nelson, he's a cellist.

Q5.   Where is Elder Miller from?  Tell us a little about him.  How many children in his family?  Is he the first missionary?  What are his hobbies and talents?  Does he get lots of letters and support from home?  How long has he been out in the field?  Is he the senior companion or are you the senior companion?  Does he like to drive? lol

A5.  He's from Twin Falls Idaho. He's cocky like I said, but a good missionary.  He did wrestling, football and likes playing magic. He's a big guy, as in big in Muscle and loves to workout. He has three older brothers and one younger sister. Nah, he’s the third missionary.  His brothers served in the Philippines, Madrid Spain, and Detroit Michigan. His hobbies are Magic, Working out, and yo-yoing!! He’s been out about 12 months.  Yes, he's the DL so he is senior comp, automatically. Yeah, he does like to drive, but I've driven a couple of times on exchanges.

Q6.   Today was the Brigham City Temple Dedication.  We went to the afternoon session with Lydia.  President Packard spoke.  He grew up in Brigham City.  He was very inspiring when he spoke.  Who did you hear this past week that inspired or motivated you?

A6. At Stake Conference Elder Packer of the Seventy spoke and I don't really remember what was said but it was good and amazing.

So that's all for this email, sorry it came late.

"New Area and New companion"

Hej familj och vänner (Swedish)                                      9/17/12
Whoo!!! This week was a crazy week especially since it was the first week after being transferred. Hey, I'm back in my home Zone with a great companion and around great people that I know, like Spjute, Walden, Mansell, and Rasmussen. It makes the Transfer better.  Well, I guess I can explain it more in “Missionary weekly”.

Missionary Weekly
Welcome to “Missionary Weekly”, where we journey through Babylon helping other’s come unto Christ. Today, we see how the trip from Roseville brought back memories of a great past time and how to make both missionaries be in so much pain? Read all this and more in “Missionary weekly”.

September 11, 2012 – It was a time to remember, a time for reverence and a time to move on to a land called Paradise. In the Chico Zone, the Move went well and I got there just fine. We have a nice place with one bedroom, one bath, big kitchen, living room and garage.

September 12 - 16, 2012 - Ok this weekly report might be short, but mostly we did visits and such.  We were getting use to the new area.  To add in, we worked out every morning with a member at his gym.  HOLY CRAP, I only did it for two days and my arms were so sore that I could not lift up my arms for the rest of the week!  I'm better now, but the guy said that it would help to take protein?  Dad, what was your opinion on the protein again?

That's it for this shortened version of “Missionary week”. Stay tuned for Q & A CORNER!!!!!!!!!!

Q1.   What is your new area like?  Who is your new companion?  What is he like?  I am eager to get your new address.  I changed your FB cover picture to a picture of Paradise, CA.  You would like it, I'm sure.

A1.  My new area is awesome. It’s just like Nevada City, but not as green. My new companion is Elder Miller or Mil-dil, which is what he goes by. He's a cocky guy, but in a humble way. He is very funny and a spiritual kind of guy. My new address is 1524 Wagstaff #A Paradise, CA 95967. I wish I could see the cover page on FB and maybe I will. (jk)

Q2.   What was the best thing about this past week?  What was the hardest part of this past week?  What is your new ward like and do you think you will enjoy it there?  What goals are you working on right now?

A2.  The Best thing was coming to Paradise. The hardest thing was getting use to a car again. This ward is just like the ward in Chico. Yes, I am sure I will enjoy it. My goals are just to do better.

Q3.   Did you remember all of your stuff?  What do you need?  We did get your package, and everyone was happy to have something from you.  I would be happy to send you a care package.  What would you like to get in the package?  We were told in a letter to all family members not to send toys especially toy guns (squirt guns).  I guess that makes sense

A3.  Yes, I remembered everything. I don't know what I need. That's great that you got the package. I’m glad.  I was a little worried. I would enjoy just some music and any other stuff that you think would be cool.

Q4.   Are you happy about being in a car in this area?  Are you going to be driving this time?  Martin is taking a road test at the DMV tomorrow.  I sure hope he is ready and passes.  He is a pretty good driver and with some practice he will be great.

A4.   I am happy a little bit about the car. No, I won’t be driving a lot. Good luck to you bro with the driving test.  Remember, pray first, that's what I did and I passed!!!

Q5.   Are you excited for General Conference coming up?  We had Stake conference this week and next week we don't have regular church because of the Brigham City Temple dedication.  We could attend that at 9 or 12 or 3 next Sunday.

A5.  Oh Yeah!!! Noice!!

Q6.  Are you planning to go back to Roseville for Scott's Baptism?  I hope you get to participate in some way since he was your investigator.  Are you teaching anyone in your new area?  Does your companion have any Baptisms scheduled soon or any great contacts lined up to be taught?

A6. I can't go back to Roseville because I already used my baptism card to travel.  Yeah, my companion has a few people lined up to be taught, two, but we'll see.

Ok, now this email is short, I know, but I must share the computer so I will write more next time.

Safety and peace, God bless and if you sneeze during this email bless your face ગુડબાય (Guḍabāya), baik, Undang Auf Wiedersehen! Another Day in Paradise?

გამარჯობა ოჯახი და მეგობრები ( gamarjoba ojakhi da megobrebi ) (Georgian)
What a fast/slow week this week? It was a good one too. What a way to end a transfer. lol!!! Well, I guess I better just head to “Missionary Weekly” before I get into the big news. lol....

Missionary Weekly!!!!
Week 6 Edition (this transfer)

Welcome to “Missionary weekly” where we see how the progress of the Lord’s work is moving along.  Today, we see how week 6 will affect the outcome of something Great!!! Also transfers are in. See who will stay and who will go. Read all this and more on “Missionary Weekly”!!!

Sept. 3rd, 2012 – This day was P-day, a time to relax, a day to chill from the work before, unless you are in Roseville 3rd ward. We had two lessons this night one with Logan and one with Scott. Lucky enough though they were on the same lesson, “The Gospel of Jesus Christ” (Faith, Repentance, Baptism, etc...).  We didn't really have to plan much on the lesson considering that they are the same thing. We just switched a few things around to make it fit their individual needs.  Man did we have to rely on the spirit, with not being very prepared, as we should be, and that day being P-day. We had a lot of prayer during those lessons.

Sept. 4th, 2012Tuesday we had a free big breakfast. Well, not really. In my previous emails I mention doing service for a member in the YSA ward with the Zone Leaders. The member thanked us for the help by giving us breakfast and it was so gooooooood. We had french toast, eggs, sausage and hash browns, the works. Lol  Later we had our District meeting, which went pretty well.  We took district pictures, sadly I forgot my camera, but don't worry I can steal one from someone. lol. Then after that we just made some visits and OYM people, but not much luck.

Sept. 5th, 2012 - Wednesday was our last exchange. Yes. It went very well. We did a lot of talking to people and contacting. Oh, I probably should have mentioned I was in my area, so that was fun.

Sept. 6th, 2012Thursday, we had service again, with the same member. This time though, we were moving out all the excess dirt he had in his backyard into a bin so he could dump it. That was fun. Then we had to help another one of their members move a play set It was not one of those Playskool ones, but the big wooden playground ones.  Let me tell you, it was a pain in the back and neck to move, but we did it.  We tried to move it around the house but it was too wide and super heavy, so we decided to move it over the back wall, which goes to the street. It was funny because once we got it on top of the wall, we had one of the smaller missionaries balance it so we could come around with the truck.  You just have to know this kid, he’s about 5' 6'' 150lbs.  It was just funny to see him trying to balance it.  I thought it was going to crush him, but we got there in time to move it. Man that was tiring.

Sept. 7th, 2012Friday, when all things fell through.

Sept. 8th, 2012Saturday was another day when things fell through.  It wasn't all-bad though, we met Sis. Christensen. She served around Leone in Gridley.  She was coming to do a mission tour with her Mom, so we chatted.  I found out she's from West Jordan.  She is from farther out by the Oquirrh Mountain Temple area. Oh well, it’s still in West Jordan!!!

Sept. 9th, 2012 –Sunday, that one day that is different than all the rest, especially this Sunday. We had a lesson in the morning before Church with Scott. That guy is doing so awesome. He is so prepared. We taught the lesson on the Ten Commandments, Law of Chastity, keeping the Sabbath day Holy and obey and honor the law.  He is just eating it up!!! And of course we come to transfers, Elder Leone is staying and will be training. Elder Morris will be getting transferred to Paradise 3rd Ward, Chico Zone. YEAH HOOOO!!!! Going back to my roots the beginning of my mission, kind of, but Mom you get your wish I'll be in a car area. lol  It’s a good thing to since I accidentally pumped too much air in my tube and it tore my tire tread. I will have to replace that tire when the time comes. Oh, and also Elder Spjute is Zone Leader up there, so I will get to see him again!!! Yessss!!!!

That's it for “Missionary Weekly”. Join us next time when Elder Morris takes his Mission to Paradise.  That is Paradise, California not spirit paradise. lol

Now for the fun, Q & A CORNER!!!!!

Q1.   What was the best thing about this past week?  What was the hardest thing about this week?  What was the most exciting thing about this week?  Did you write in your planner and journal this week?

A1.  Having the Lessons with Scott Graves and Logan was the best thing. The hardest thing was probably when we had too much down time. The most exciting thing was to get the letters from Tommy, Grandma and Grandpa Morris and the package from Crissy. Yes, I did write in my planner and my journal this week. I just missed the past few days because we got in late both times and I was exhausted.

Q2.  How is Scott doing with his lessons?  How about all the other investigators?  Did you make any new contacts this past week?

A2. *Please refer to “Missionary Weekly” for information on this question.

Q3.   How was Church yesterday?  What did you learn or teach at Church?  Did any of your investigators come to Church?  What motivated you at Church today?  Did you set any new goals for this coming week?

A3.  It was good. We learned about the importance of repentance. Yeah, Scott and Angie came to Church. The talk on the Holy Ghost motivated me. Not really, just the same goals; Journal Writing, talk to people, you know that stuff.

Q4.  Did you get Crissy's letter and my letter?  Who did you hear from this week via email or snail mail?  What do you need or what would you like?  Can I send you a care package?  How is Elder Leone doing?  Does he need anything?  Take care of each other.

A4. YES!!!! She is making me sooo trunky now, but in a good way not the “I want to come home” way. lol  I heard from Tommy and Grandma and Grandpa Morris, but I haven't gotten your letter yet, maybe today? Nothing really, just don't send a Coasta Vida card yet.  I have to check if there is one in Paradise or at least Chico. Sure, if you want to send me a package.  I'm going to send my package today, so hopefully you will get it in one piece. lol

Q5.   We finally have some cooler weather.  How is the weather there?  Does it seem like fall yet?  Do palm trees change in the fall? or are they like pine trees and stay the same year round?  I guess that is a weird question.  Can you send some pictures?  I am trying to get an album of your letters put together this week.  I try to make chapter headings or pages for each area with pictures of that area.

A5.  It doesn’t really feel like fall here. Palm trees don’t change with the seasons that I know of.  Yes, I’m going to send pictures soon.

Q6.   How are you feeling physically?  How do you like tennis?  Where do you get the rackets and such?  What other things do you do for exercise?  I hope you are doing things you really enjoy and things that energize you physically and mentally.

A6.  I’m doing alright.  Tennis is fun, once you finally get it. I bought my own racket. Other things I do for exercise are sleep (jk) and basketball.

Well, that's it. I better end now because Elder Leone is reading over my shoulder and waiting for me to be done. You know the tune....
Safety and peace, God bless and if you sneeze during this email bless your face ગુડબાય (Guḍabāya), baik, Undang Auf Wiedersehen! Scatter Brained?

Hello Family and Friends,
Sorry, this e-mail is a little late. The place we email from was closed for Labor Day, so here I am emailing today, Tuesday Sept. 4, 2012. Man this week was a crazy one. Let’s head to “Missionary Weekly” to see how everything is going?

Welcome to Missionary week where we travel with the Lord's army and see them in action!!! Today, We see how exchanges can make a week go by fast, and then a special announcement concerning a baptism? Read all this and more on “Missionary Weekly”.

August 28, 2012 - District Meeting!!!! Not much to say on this day, I wish I had brought my journal so I could remember what happened. Ummmm, we had visits and did some tracting. What do you want from me? I forgot to fill in my planner on this day, as well.

August 29, 2012 - This was the start of me being so scattered brained that it’s not even funny. We had exchanges this day and I was in 1st ward’s area, which consisted of Elder Thorne and Elder Livingston. I was with Elder Thorne and it wasn't that bad. We made some
Visits.  They rescued a baby Squirrel, so we played with it for a while and got to hold it. Then we took the squirrel to one of the less active's home. He used to raise baby squirrels, so that was fun. I got a picture of it and I'll send it home soon. You would never guess what happen the next day.

August 30, 2012 – Today was exactly one year from the day I left the MTC and came to California. That's not the part I was excited about. The crazy part of it, that turned my head into a whirlwind, was that we had
exchanges with the Zone Leaders. We had exchanges two days in a row. Man I was going crazy!!!! The day went pretty well. We did some visits, contacting and all that fun stuff. I was so scattered brained the whole day.

August 31, 2012 - DL/ZL meeting and Weekly Planning!!!! yeah!!!! We also had an awesome lesson with Brother Kiner. We read out of Doctrine and Covenants section 88, which I will tell more about when I get to Q&A.

September 1, 2012 - Service!!! We helped the Denslys’ with their yard. They are a young couple that moved into the ward just a few months ago and they feed us dinner a lot. They don't have much, but they are very friendly and willing to help us. We decided to help them with their yard and so we chopped down some trees that they didn't want. We moved some HEAVY tree stumps that weighed like a hundred pounds!!!! We did
other yard work as well.

September 2, 2012 - So I guess I better spill the surprise. Scott, the guy we were teaching, is getting baptized on the 22!!! Yeah!!! I'm so hoping that I don't get transferred this week. They announced it
in Priesthood, so now everyone knows!!!

That's it for “Missionary Weekly”. Sorry, it was short. Consider it a Labor Day special!!!!

Now lets head to Q&A Corner!!!!!!

Q1. How are your investigators doing? How many lessons have you taught this past week? Did you learn anything new from your studies and lessons this past week?

A1. They are doing great. We just had a lesson with Logan and Scott yesterday and they really are enjoying it. We taught 8 lessons, not exactly mission standards, but we're doing better. Something new I learned was D&C 88:67 compared with D&C 4:5.

Q2. What was the best thing that happened this past week? What was the worst thing that happened this past week? What was the funniest thing that happened this past week? What was the most inspiring or motivating thing that happened this past week?

A2. The Best thing that happened was probably holding the squirrel. lol Well, I guess it would really be reading D&C 88. The Worst thing would have to be going on two exchanges in a row. The funniest thing would definitely be holding the squirrel. The most inspiring thing would be, maybe that's D&C 88.

Q3. How is the weather? Is it getting any cooler? We have had a couple of days of stormy weather but still hot. We are in the mid 90's most of the time. Are you looking forward to fall? We would love some pictures of the area that you ride about in and serve in.

A3. Warm, its starting to really cool down at night so now we don't need to run the A/C any more. I am looking forward to fall a little bit. Sure, I'll send some pictures soon.

Q4. Are you getting to know people in your ward? Tell us about one or two people that you talk with often or that provide service to you and Elder Leone. How is Elder Leone doing? Is he staying focused and motivated?

A4. Yeah, there are really cool people in our ward. There is one member that really doesn't like Utah missionaries, even though he's from Utah. lol Oh well, there is our Ward Mission Leader Brother Tidwell and let's see the Denslys who do like us and serve us. Elder Leone is doing well. He said his Mom is making him “Trunky”, because of all the emails about school and stuff after his mission. lol He is still doing well though.

Q5. What are your plans for P-day today? What part of p-day do you like or look forward to each week? Are you keeping up with all those boring domestic chores? Which job or housekeeping chore do you hate the most? Which do you not mind doing? What nice thing did you do for Elder Leone this week?

A5. "Do you know what today is? Its tomorrow.  I like writing my emails, just having a good time and relaxing. Yes, Mother, I am keeping up with my chores. What do I hate the Most? Where is my list? Oh, it's in the apartment under all my dirty clothes. Lol I don’t hate laundry as much as making my bed and such
though. I cleaned my desk? Which really isn't that dirty and also lately we've been playing tennis in the morning for exercise. I guess the nice thing I did was being ready to go out?

Q6. What would you like to know? What would you like to ask anyone here? Is there any ward members here at home that you would like to know about? Hope I can get more people to write to you and more letters coming your way.

A6. What would I like to Know? You didn't answer the questions from my last email. Well, how is school going? How is getting Arthur situated and such? MARTIN.... What’s up man? I miss you A LOT. Why haven't
you written me? Other than the Post cards of course!!!! Come on write me at least something. Send a poem or a Red Vs Blue Quote? Oh, I did think of a quote I kind of converted to missionary work. "Back on my Mission we didn't have all these fancy smancy cars. We had feet.... two feet and a bike and we had
to share the bike. Buck up son, you should consider your self lucky." Hey how about sending me a RVB quote everyday!!!!!

Well, that’s it for this email. *Safety and peace, God bless and if you sneeze during this email bless your face ગુડબાય (Guḍabāya), baik, Undang Auf Wiedersehen! Requesta de pache (rest in peace), Molto Bene, الوداع, Alsons y, bonum devium, 再見 (Zàijiàn),
