"March Madness?"

Hello Once again family and friends,                    3/25/13
This week was full of ups and downs.... but mostly ups!!!! I'm glad that Sabino is finally moved out. Oh, before I forget. Did Uncle Paul move to Utah? When did this happen? Was this supposed to be a surprise or something? Where does he live now? When I heard that he was visiting Arthur I thought he was just in town for the week!!! That's awesome.
Any who... Let's hit up Missionary Weekly!!!!

Missionary Weekly!!!!
Welcome to “Missionary Weekly”, where we see the Lord's vineyard in action!!! Today, we see how sometimes things don't go your way, but we see the blessings of the Lord in the lives of others. Today... all this and more on “Missionary Weekly”!!!!

March 19, 2013 - Not much happened this day... less-active work and visits. We did have a lesson with Sarah.  She is a less-active youth. We talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Faith, Repentance, Baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the end.

March 20, 2013 - We had a great first lesson with a new investigator. Her name is Wanda and she is an "In-home" caretaker for a member of our ward. It was awesome. It was a little different then the usual lesson, but it was great.  The rest of the Day we had other set appointments, but they all fell through... (sad face)

March 21, 2013 - District Meeting went pretty well. I think I can get used to this.  I guess it takes awhile for me to get the hang of certain callings. We also had a lesson with a new less-active person that wants to come back to church. He is an interesting guy. He wants to move to Utah, because it has a good influence.  That made me trunky, just thinking about Utah. We also had a lesson with a part member family, but we had to pass them off to the other Elders, because they are in a different ward.

March 22, 2013 - Well today was my first day doing an actual Baptism Interview for the 1st ward. I was surprised because I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. It went well. We also had a bomb lesson with Trista. Her and her less-active husband have a wedding date for June 8 and we committed her for baptism on the 15th of June. So, right after the wedding she will be baptized!!!!

That's it for “Missionary Weekly”.  Now lets head to Q & A CORNER!!!!

Q1.   How has your past week been?  How many lessons?  Do you have any new investigators?  How are all of your investigators doing?  Are you finding joy and satisfaction in all the work you are doing?

A1.   We had about 17 lessons this past week.  No new gators. Yep, I always feel satisfaction when I teach!!!

Q2.   Do you have any special plans for Easter?  Have you met with Pres. Weston lately?  How do you feel you are doing with your calling as District Leader?  How is Elder Himmer doing? Does he feel more confident and is he enjoying his mission?  Tell him time passes quickly so he needs to enjoy every single minute while he is there.

A1. Not really, we do have a special fireside on Easter. We speak with Pres Weston often about things with our investigators. I feel a little better about my calling as district leader now. Elder Himmer is doing well. Yep, he seems to really enjoy the work.

Q3.   Dad wants to know how the driving is going?  We put your names on the prayer roll at the temple a couple of times, should we include your car too?  I do pray that you will always be safe. Martin drove us to Church and back today.  He is not a bad driver, but he needs to practice so he gets more comfortable.  What do you like about driving?  What makes you the most nervous about driving?

A3. It went pretty well. I did have a close call once, but I was able to stop in time. I was at an intersection and it was in a tough spot to see around. I started to pull out to see if I was clear and a car came though the intersection and it nearly hit us.  It scared Elder Himmer so much that he took the keys away and so he is now driving instead of me, but I'm fine with it.  I was tired of driving anyway.

Q4.   What kind of activities does your whole district do on P-days?  What kind of sports or outside activities do the sisters like to do?  Do you do the Frisbee golf now that the sun is out and it is spring?  We just got a couple of days of snow again!!  Several inches of snow fell on Thursday and Friday.  Yuck!!  I am so jealous that you are in sunny California.  Enjoy that sunshine!

A4. Well, we played a Nerf Zombie game with the Zone.  I'm not sure what the sisters like because they don't usually tell us. No Frisbees, as of now, mostly because no one wants to do it.

Q5.   Oh, I forgot to send you the March Madness cards.  Seminary has a March Madness challenge where you read the entire New Testament in the month of March.  Martin is doing great.  While waiting for Conference to start today he got caught up.  I did not do so well.  I am going to do Amazing April.  I will send you the card so you can do it too if you want (New Testament).  Are you studying any other books right now?  Did you read a scripture this week that meant something special to you or answered a prayer?

A5. When I saw you put March Madness card on there, I thought you were talking about brackets for basketball. lol  That'll be cool!! I got a Book of Mormon Reference companion book that Elder Himmer and I look through every now and then. There is now particular scripture that comes to mind, but I'm currently reading Jacob 5 in the Book of Mormon right now.

Q6.   What was the best thing about this past week?  What was the saddest part of this past week?  Did you have a "light bulb" moment this past week?  What was your favorite meal or treat this past week?  What did you do to serve your companion or missionary in your district this past week?

A6. The best part was committing someone to baptism. The saddest part was having appointments fall through. Not really, no light bulb moments for me. Corn Beef and Cabbage, the St. Patrick's Day tradition was great. Trying to listen to their needs is how I serve all the missionaries in my district.

Well I guess I got to go!!!! I love all of ya!!!! Oh and if you want you can tell my friends and other family that now I can email friends and others besides just immediate family.

"Luck of the Irish"

Hey family and friends,
While I was reading this email I started to get a little trunky, because of what you said about Arthur.  Also when Mom wrote the part in the letter you sent me, that you and I quote, "Hug me plum to death" that didn't help at all. lol  It only made it worse. Lol  I'm glad that Sabino is moving out of that house away from Arthur.  If I was there I would probably knock him out... okay that sounded a little mean, but it’s sad that he was that rude and destroyed all the doors.  At least he is moving out away from him, because we all know that Arthur will beat that guy up big time. lol  I should know since I have the scars still from our fights. lol
Well I better hit up “Missionary weekly” in order to get this to all of you.
Missionary Weekly
Welcome to “Missionary Weekly”, where the luck of the Irish is always around.  Today... spiritual experience, but not in our area? … A close call, see what happened, and an investigator ran away? What is happening in Paradise?

March 12, 2013 - Exchanges with the new guy, his name is Elder Ormsby and he is from Pearland, Texas close to Houston.  He has seizures so I was a little nervous for exchanges, but it went very well and we had no problems.  He is having some anxiety problems so if you want another person to write, send him a letter though the Mission office.  I think it will help him.

March 13, 2013 - The next day we did regular missionary work, but we had an interesting lesson with Victoria on the subject of outer darkness... yeah... lets just say that it came from a lesson we had on Sunday!!!  It went well. We also finished the testaments and of course I got emotional at the end, but so did she.  I love that movie.  Maybe a bit cheesy but very strong.

March 14, 2013 - We had a lesson with Eric and it didn't work out very well. The lesson went as planned, but the spirit was not there, unfortunately.  Later we found out that he ran a way, which could be good.  He needed to get out of that living environment it’s a bad place.

March 15, 2013 - Fun day at the Davis family home, again!!! Also had an awesome dinner with the Relief Society sisters. It was amazing!!!!

March 16, 2013 - Just a regular day this day.  Man, not much has happened this week. Oh, I almost got in a wreck ... just so you know.... it was close, but they missed us by an inch.

 March 17, 2013 - St. Patty's Day, woo hoo!!

Now for Q&A CORNER!!!!!!

Q1.   How was your Sabbath Day?  Did you have any investigators or less actives that attended Church?  Who did you have Dinner with?  What did you personally enjoy the most about your Sabbath/St Patrick's Day?

A1. It was good. No gators, but a few less-actives at Church. We ate with the Parrots!!!! Um, I probably enjoyed dinner the most. The Parrots have a missionary out and we talked a lot about missions.

Q2.   How is Tristan doing?  Have you met with him again?  Are his parent's interested in taking the discussions?  Have the Young Men in your ward invited him to come to Church?  It sounds like he simply needs some good friends to buoy him up.

A2. We haven't his parents don't want us teaching him.

Q3.   Did you get my letters to you?  Did you get letters from anyone else this past week?  Grandpa said he would send a check to me so I could put it in your debit account to replace the one you lost.  You should have told me about that.  Is there anything special you or Elder Himmer need?

A3. Yes I got your letters and I got one from Sister Stott, who is in the Washington DC Mission. There is nothing really that we need, we are fine. We just need some support maybe some newspapers from home?

Q4.   How is the weather there?  We have had some great weather the past week or so, but we should have gotten rain or snow today.  I really want to just keep getting warmer, no steps backward.  Brother Wegner used to live in San Jose and he talked to us about how much he enjoys California.  We definitely will have to make a trip back to visit your mission and more in California after you get home. :">

A4. It’s been warm. OH YEAH!!!!!! Road trip, WHOO HOO!!!!!

Q5.   What was the best part of the past week?  What was the hardest thing about the past week?  What was the biggest surprise of the past week?  What was your best lesson this past week?  Did you have a testimony building experience this past week?  What scripture made you stop and think this past week?

A5. The Best part of this past week was the lesson we had with a new investigator, named Kim Hurst. The Toughest was finding out they are not in our area, which was the biggest surprise!!! The lesson, with Kim Hurst was testimony building because the spirit was super strong. I can't remember any scriptures that made me think, right now.

Q6.  Are you back in the 6-week cycle for Transfers?  I have April 2nd as your next Transfer day, is that right?  Are you excited about General Conference?  I guess that those will happen the Sunday after transfers this time around.  Will that make it harder or easier?

A6. Yes we are back on schedule. Yep, April 2nd is transfers and I am excited for General Conference!!! Well, I think both easier and harder just depends where I end up?

Okay, that’s all for now folks. Tell Arthur that I said, “HI”!!!!!!

Safety and peace, God bless and if you sneeze during this email bless your face ગુડબાય (Guḍabāya), baik, Undang Auf Wiedersehen! "Spiritual BOMB"

Hello once again Audience!!!                                               3/11/13

We left off on Elder Morris's big ANNOUNCEMENT he might have forgot to tell to his family... and others last week...and the week before and the week before that... but why tell you now when I can tell you when I go to “Missionary Weekly”!!!!  First, YOU WENT TO CRACKLE BARREL... WITHOUT ME?!? NOOOOOOOOOoooooo... At least I have Panda Express out here. lol  Oh, and about the card and the check I did get it... but unfortunately I did lose the check, ......... (Sad face with a tear) ......... sorry? I can't believe you watched Disney Movies without me too... your supposed to put all that stuff in a cement box and bury it in the back yard with all my new games too ... lol  Don't forget to put a big stone on top of it then have someone appear to me to tell me what’s inside it and where to find it ... ok, that was a little blasphemous... sorry... well I better get to the “Peanut Butter and Jelly” part of the email... “MISSIONARY WEEKLY”!!!!!
~Missionary Weekly~

Welcome to “Missionary Weekly” where we actually write on the other side of the email. Today, we are going to a Zone Meeting to learn more about what will happen in the coming week, and then we meet an important guest who will change the life of missionaries forever!!! All this and more on “Missionary Weekly”!!!!

March 5, 2013 - We had a very spiritual lesson this night. This past Sunday a member came and spoke to us about teaching his 12 yr old daughter who is a member, but needs help understanding some doctrine.  Elder Himmer and I decide to help out.  We went to their house and she had friend over, who is not a member, but wanted to sit in on the lesson.  We thought nothing of it and taught the Restoration to both of them.  The spirit was so strong there. We ask Tristan (the friend) if it was all right with his parents that he meets with us again, and at that moment he started to cry.  12 yr olds don't usually cry.... (Unless you are me).  He told us how his parent fight with each other and fight with him.  That night him and his mom were arguing and he ran outside upset.  That's when Sarah (the Daughter) found him and invited him to sit with us. From what he told us, it seems his family is very dysfunctional.  It is sad to see a 12 yr boy crying about this.  We are meeting him tomorrow with the some members and talking about the Plan of Salvation.

March 6, 2013 – Today was a Zone Meeting.  We haven't had one of these since the Zone split.  Not much to say, just that we talked about... ummmmmm...wait I know this one...ummmmmm.... hmmmmm... I'll come back to it when I remember. lol  On a high note we had an awesome lesson with Victoria Hunt.  We watched part of the “Testament” with her and she loved it.

March 7, 2013 - Well we had another lesson with Rich.  I don't know about this guy, it’s hard to say what we should do about him because he is nice, but we are getting nowhere with him.  We had a lesson with him on the Priesthood and oh man it was the... (I don't know how to explain it) worst conversation, but we are trying our best with him.

March 8, 2013 - Service day, we helped with a move that should have taken 2 hours, but it took half the day.  We also helped Papa T (Brother Titus) with some gardening. So, Yeah...

March 9, 2013 – Ok, now for the good part of “Missionary Weekly”.  Elder Neal L. Anderson came to the California Roseville Mission along with Craig C. Christensen of the Presidency of the Seventy. Spiritual BOMB!!!!! The Spirit burned in me throughout the 2hr Meeting we had.  He talked about Mercy and merits of the Atonement. I have the notes in my journal at home. It was amazing!

March 10, 2013 – Sunday, that one day... Well a sister in the ward spoke about her Conversion and it was awesome.... so awesome that it took the entire meeting to talk about it.

That's it for “Missionary Weekly”!!!!!

 Now for Q & A CORNER!!!!!

Q1.   How was your Sabbath Day?  What was your personal message from Church?  What did you have for dinner?  What was the best part of your Sabbath Day?

A1. It was good. Conversion comes through time...Trereso!!!! Sacrament is the best part because it’s the most spiritual part of the day!!!!

Q2.   Do you have any pictures of your apartment?  We loved the pictures you sent of the river and flumes.  Is there a lake close to Paradise?  I thought I found one on Google.  What are some of your favorite recreation areas in paradise?  What is your favorite thing or place in Paradise?  Tell us something special about your district.

A2. I have a few of our apartment... yeah, there is a lake and I have pictures of that. The Hike is my favorite recreation activities. Kalico Kitchen is my favorite place!!!!  The district has all hard workers!!!!

Q3.    We got a letter from President Weston that he CC: to you.  It is all about what you do as a District Leader.  Does your district consist of 4 Elders and 2 Sister Missionaries?  How are your companionships doing?  Do sister missionaries have different strengths and weaknesses?  Has working with Sister Missionaries been difficult or maybe easier?

A3. Yep, the district is I, Elder Himmer, Elder Hileman, Elder Ormsby, Sister Loveland and Sister Nelson. They are all doing well.  Yeah Sister missionaries have different strengths sometimes. I would say they are easier to work with most of the time.

Q4.    I have a few more addresses to send you.  It's really hard to find addresses for some of your friends.  Is there anything else you need?  Where did you get the lime green hoodie and the old fashion tennis shoes?  Any special Easter treat that we can send your way?  What is Elder Himmer's favorite snack?  What is his favorite color?

A4. Nope, we don’t need anything.  I get that stuff at T.J. Max and Ross, a missionary's best friend. Peanut butter Easter Bunnies? Blue.

Q5.   How are Eric, Victoria and your 12-year-old investigator?  What happened with Aimee?  Have things calmed down a bit with that family?  Now, is the time for your ward to encircle that family with love and understanding.  I can imagine how scared and confused Aimee is right now.  It has got to be hard on her mother too, but she needs to love her despite the mistakes she has made and help her to get back in touch with her Heavenly Father.  Enough preaching, I hope things are going well for all of them.  Do you feel you have any Baptisms on the horizon?

A5. They are doing well. She's fine. Yeah. They are a little bit calmer. No Baptisms to look forward to at the moment.

Q6.    How are you doing physically, mentally and emotionally?  We pray for you all the time.  What is something you have been thinking about or maybe concerned about?  What would you like to know about from all of us?  Ask us absolutely anything you would like and I will MAKE your siblings write you back. lol

A6. Physically strong, mentally gone, emotionally a wreck.........jk. lol  I'm fine. I like to know just how everyone is doing. Mostly, how Martin's Sweethearts date went? How Lydia's doing in Young Women’s and how Dad is doing in his new calling and school.  You mom, just how are you doing?

Okay, other people are waiting so got to go!!! Love ya!!!!

"Teach When You Find"

Hello family and Friends!!!!!                                       3/4/13
Man what a week for teaching. We've done a lot of teaching this week through finding!!!  Unfortunately, a lot of set appointments this week have fallen through.  It was still a good week!!!! Lets hit the “Missionary Weekly” Forecast...well I guess Post-cast!!! lol

“Missionary Weekly!!!

Welcome to “Missionary Weekly”!!!  Today, we will see how we apply “teach when you find” and “find when you teach”.  Also another successful District Meeting? Check out what we talked about at that meeting!!  Finally “Drama City” at the Davis family home, read to see what happened!!

February 26, 2013 - Leaves, leaves and more leaves... I am getting sick and tired of so many leaves. Ok, so I told you about Noble, right? He is the guy with endless and endless piles of leaves? Yeah, we finally got it all taken care of.  I don't want to see another pile of leaves again in my life!!!  It was all-good.  He said he would get our car detailed and take us out to La Carnitas (forgive the spelling) so it was not all in vain. We also got a lesson out of it.

February 27, 2013 - Two really awesome lessons this Day!!!! One with Eric, we talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He is so cool and asked really good questions.  He also applied the things we taught him. There are still a lot of issues to work on with him before he gets baptized, but over all he is doing well. The other great lesson we had was with a part-member family. The parents are less-active members and they have a 12 yr old daughter that is not baptized. She likes the Young Woman Program and so we are going to bring the Young Women President to meet her and bring her to Young Women’s’ next time we meet. And finally we had a lesson with Victoria and of course she is doing Awesome with a capitol AWESOME!!!! We talked about the last part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, baptism, Holy Ghost and enduring to the end.

February 28, 2013 - District Meeting!!! Today we talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how it applies to our investigators.

March 1, 2013 - Now we hit the most interesting day of the week. We had a lesson with one of our new investigators, but the member we were going to have the lesson with was not home.  We didn't know what to do.  Because the investigator works with this member at her home, we decided to wait and see what happens.  We sat in these really nice chairs and relaxed a bit, and then a thought came to me.  If this is what life is like when you’re old, sitting on the porch on a nice day, I really like it!!!  Now, for the crazy part, we went to McDonalds for lunch and we saw the Davis family's older girl.  She asked us when we were coming over.  We told her after lunch. That turned out to be a big mistake. lol.... The older Daughter Amiee, who is 17, Bi-polar and ADHD is now pregnant.  When we arrived she was yelling at her Boyfriend, her boyfriend was yelling at her, and the Mom is yelling at both of them.  Oh boy, talk about bad timing. lol

March 2, 2013 - The best day ever for tracting, 6 lessons given while we were tracting. WHO HOO!!!! What a good day!!!

March 3, 2013 - Not much happened this day.  Sunday was just dinner and so on...

Q & A CORNER!!!!

Q1.   How is your District Leader job going?  Are you keeping up with it all?  How is Elder Himmer doing?  I hope you two are taking good care of each other.

A1.   It's going... although it is pretty tough because you have to help everyone with his or her individual needs. Yeah, I am keeping up, but its tough. Elder Himmer is doing great. Oh yeah, we are doing well and taking care of each other.

Q2.   How are your investigators?  What's happening with each of them?  Are you seeing progress and finding the ones who truly want the gospel and the blessings it brings?  How many lessons this week?  How many of the investigators came to Church?

A2. They are all doing well. *Please view “Missionary Weekly” above. We are seeing a little bit of progress with investigators, but not a whole lot.  The progress will come soon. Yeah, a little bit of progress each time we visit. We taught 21 lessons this week. Two investigators came to Church.

Q3.   How was your Sabbath Day?  What special message did you hear and need from Church?  Did you have an opportunity to share your testimony this past week?  How do you think your testimony has changed since your mission began?

A3. Church was great, a lot of great testimonies. A lot of food today...lol Testimonies about food at least. I did bare my testimony in the past month. Oh yeah, my testimony has changed a lot.  More than I can share here.

Q4.   Do you need anything?  Are you still doing the work out routine and eating healthy?  James has lost so much weight he looks different now.  I have been trying, but it is slow going.  Is exercise part of your daily routine and something you are supposed to incorporate because of the mission rules?  What do you two do for exercise?

A4. Let’s see... I need the address for Elder Beck, and all the other Missionaries on my facebook page, if you could get those? We don’t exercise or eat healthy as often as before. Yeah, exercise is part of our daily routine but it’s tough though. Yeah, at 6:30 to 7 in the morning it’s exercise time. We go to the gym and we do whatever Nate suggests.

Q5.   Is it warming up there?  We finally had a couple of days in the 40s and 50s.  We even got the candy canes out of the flowerbed and put away!  What are you planning to do for p-day today?  What is your favorite part of p-day?  What is your favorite part of all the other days of the week?

A5. Oh yeah, 60's and 70's here in California. For P-day we are doing another awesome hike on the Flumes. The activities and the email time are my favorite part of p-day. The rest of the week it’s just feeling the spirit through out the week and so on!!!

Well that's it. I got to go, but I love ya!!!
