Sorry,
I don't know how to pronounce it in English. Man I don't feel like typing today, not that it’s a bad day. I just don't
feel like typing. I guess I have to endure to the end, right? *sigh* So, guess
we'll start with “Missionary Weekly”... zzZZzzz..... darn T.V. It doesn't like
to work when you need it.*kick*.........
Missionary weekly
Welcome
to “Missionary weekly”, where.... VVvvVvVVv.. (Fast forward a bit)...Today we see... VvvVVvVvVV.....
August 13, 2012 - Today
was our P-day. The reason I want to start on this day is because we had a half
P-day and we had an interesting experience. We were out Street contacting at
the local park and we saw that there was a slow pitch soft ball game going on.
We decided to take a small break, which turned into a long break. While we were
watching the game a jogger came up to us and ask if we were Latter-day
Saints? We told him we are and he
said that he had a couple of question for us. He was curious on whether or not we were Christians, so we
told him that we are. We told him
more about what we believe in. He
told us that he was just wondering and that he didn't know and didn't want to
offend us. He also said that all
he knew about the Mormons was that there was one running for president. He
wasn't an Obama fan so he just wanted to know more. We ask if we could come by
and share more, but he said that his wife would not like that and would have a
fit. We gave him a Mormon.org pass
along card and invited him to check it out. We told him that all his questions would be answered on
there and if he had any other questions to call us.
August 14, 2012 - Tuesday...
district meeting and that was pretty much it. Well, we did go out and do some
visits. It seems that the park is a good place to “find”. We went to a
different park and rested from the heat and did some phone calls to set up
lessons. Of coarse everyone seemed
to be busy. As we were just
chatting a guy comes up to the fence and says, "HEY ELDERS YOU NEED A
DRINK?" We look over and see the guy hold up two Vitamin Waters. He gave
them to us and told us that he knows how it feel to bike in the heat like this
in long suit pants. We thanked him and he said that he just lives right around
the corner so if we need anything his place is always open. We are planning on
visiting him later this week. Like my companion says, either the Lord leads us
to them or he leads them to us.
August 15, 2012 – “Same old, same old”.
August 16, 2012 - It's hot and I wish I had my
planner with me so I could remember what we did. lol
August 17, 2012 - Now we come to the crazy part
and the reason we had a half P-day. We had a weekly planning session and this
one was a little different. We actually did the last step of our weekly
planning, the companionship inventory. This is where we talk about personal
goals and challenges and discuss how we can do better. For example how I'm
doing better with typing without look at the keys. lol Not really, but it was still a good
goal and we plan on doing better as a companionship as well as individuals.
Also that night, one of Elder Leone's investigators from his last area was
getting baptized. She wanted him
to baptized her. We took the long
trip to Rocklin, a 15 min drive and went to the baptism. It was pretty
cool. Elder Morris was there; he replaced Elder Leone in Granite Bay as Zone
Leader. We caught up and talked about the good times. We even told President,
who was also there, about the exchange we did in Grass Valley. He thought it
was hilarious. Elder Morris has one more transfer after this one. He said that
he would be home in time for the “Halo 4” movie. lol Him and I
are so alike. lol
August 18,
2012 - Another crazy day. We started out the day with lots of phone calls. I
guess I should do some back tracking.
There's this older couple that live in our ward and their Grandaughter
was planning on getting baptized, but the Grandaughter and her family live in Fort
Worth, Texas. The idea was that they do it out here, along with a baby
blessing. This is not really allowed. They tried to do it here before, but
always end up canceling at the very last minute. President Weston asked us if we could supervise it and make
sure it runs smoothly. We did supervise it and it went well, but I don't think
we'll count it towards our baptisms. It was a free baptism from the Fort Worth,
Texas Mission.
August 19, 2012 - * see Q&A Corner.
That's
it for “Missionary Weekly”. Don't
change that dial because “Q&A Corner” is next on this missionary email.
Welcome to Q&A corner!!!!!!
Sorry
this didn't come to you sooner.
Q1. How has the teaching been this past week? Do
you have any new investigators? Do you have any baptism dates set?
A1. We struggled a bit this week. It’s tough when people are on
vacation. No new investigators. No baptism dates set, yet.
Q2. How has the weather been? Is it still HOT?
It has been hot here and also smoky because of fires here in Utah and in
the Sawtooth Mountains (where we were camping). We had lots of smoke to
deal with at Wood River too.
A2. It's been hot, but now it’s cooling down. Man what’s
with all the fires?
Q3. I haven't gotten any news about Steve Rowzee or Doug
Oman but I will do some more looking. It doesn't appear that they post on
facebook, but maybe they have websites. How is Elder Leone doing?
His Mom and I keep in touch. Are you both keeping each other
motivated and staying upbeat? Remember to serve each other. What is
something you did nice for Elder Leone this past week?
A3. He's doing well. Yeah, like I said we had a good comp
inventory and set goals to help us do better. I can't think of any thing
particular I did for Elder Leon at the moment, but he is a good cook.
Q4. What was the best thing that happened this week?
What was the worst thing that happened this week? What was the best
message you heard at Church yesterday? What are you most excited
about this coming week?
A4. Getting some water from strangers and friends was
good. The worst thing would be the
heat, I guess. I enjoyed the
message about service to other and to have a good attitude towards life. A Half Mission Conference is coming up
and so I'm excited for that!!! Elder Cardon is coming to talk to us.
Q5. How many dinners did you go to this week? What
was your favorite meal this past week? What did you cook this week?
What treat would you like to get in the mail?
A5. We missed two days, but this week should be better.
The favorite meal was spaghetti and meatballs. That was good. We... I mean Elder Leone made these tostada
things with refried beans, cheese and chicken. That was good. Um, we like gummy
bears, gummy worms, and anything really. Oh and I'm still planning on sending
the package soon. I just haven't gotten to the post office, yet.
Q6. Found the receipt for your bike. Dad wants to
know if you need a new bike or money to improve this one? I'm not the one
asking the questions, it's Dad. lol
A6. If I have to answer that question, than I just need to
improve this one. How much do I have in my debit account, by the way? I haven't been able to check. Oh and
thanks for the email Dad. It’s good to hear from you.
Well, I guess that's it for this email. I have got to find some way to save
time or type faster.
