"Happy New Year"

Hello Family and Friends,                            12/31/12

And HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND MERRY NEW YEAR!!!! Sorry about my lack of E-mails and lack of information.  It seems when the Missionary's life on a mission begins to get shorter the shorter the emails become.  I have seven and a half months to go, but who's counting? Really... Mom? Well I better get to “Missionary Weekly”, and tell you about my LONG week.

 Missionary Weekly

Welcome back to “Missionary Weekly”, where we travel with the Greatest Evangelist of all time.  Today, we see how a Missionary Christmas is different from other Christmas'.  How do 4 Elders fit in a tiny apartment? How do you survive that squeeze and also another great Baptism?  Read about all this and more on “Missionary Weekly”.

12-25-12: Merry Christmas! Today, I got to skype home to my Family. It was great to see them and hear them as well.  I miss them very much. It’s hard to believe that I only have one more phone call to make on my mission. It's insane. Thank you all who sent amazing gifts.  You are all amazing.

12-(26-30)-12: Is it crowded in here or is it just me? Talk about “4 Elder Apartments” this was insane as well. The other Elders in our district had to move into our place for 7 days because the members they live with had family coming over for Christmas.  For 7 days we were crowded in here. It was crazy.

12-29-12: Today was Jon’s Baptism.  It was a hectic, but a rewarding day. The Date came up fast much faster than usual, but it was done and went very well.  Jon's Dad did the baptism and we were the witnesses. Jon's Dad did the confirmation as well the next day.

That's it for Missionary Weekly Now for Q&A corner

Q1.   How did Jon's Baptism go?  I hope it was a spiritual and special experience for all who attended.  He may be the key to many more investigators and baptisms.

A1. It went very well. Especially the spiritual aspect.

Q2.   How was Church today?  Did any of your investigators or less-actives come today?  What was the message you heard at Church today?  I find that you hear the one thing that is meant just for you.  I am eager to put into action the things I have learned for me today.

A2. It was very well. A few of our investigators and less-actives did come to Church. A lot of the messages were reports on Missionary experiences.

Q3.   What did you think about your Christmas package?  Did everything fit?  Is there anything that you need that I did not include?  How was the rest of your Christmas Day?  Tell us a little more about the Titus family.  They seemed like good people.

A3. I LOVED IT!!!! Yeah everything fits.  There wasn’t anything missing, that I can think of.  It was Capital Awesome. The Titus family is a very spiritual family.  They love the missionaries. They use to house the missionaries in their home.

Q4.   Do you have big New Years Resolutions planned?  Maybe they should just be called New Goals.  I have several Resolutions but they are very attainable and I won't break them.  It is not to lose weight because I know that is never a good goal for me.

A4. Yeah, pretty much the same resolutions or goals as last year.

Q5.   What do you do on New Years Day?  Is it a p-day like Christmas or do you still go out and tract?  I would assume most people have big family dinners and things like that.  Do you have a dinner appointment for New Years Day?  We will be staying home for New Years Eve and New Years Day.  Decided it was less expensive than traveling up to Idaho.  Maybe next year we'll all go to Grandma and Grandpa's house?

A5.  We will be going door to door and that sort of stuff. Yeah, we do have a dinner appointment. Nice.

Q6.   Here it is.... what was the best part of the past week?  What was the worst part of the week?  What made you smile?  What inspired a silent prayer?  What motivated you to work harder?

A6. Best part of course was Christmas. Worst part was being crowded in our apartment.  Seeing you guys on Skype made me smile.  I prayed that the Baptism would go well.  Jon's Baptism motivates me to work harder and be part of more of those experiences.

Well I got to go.  Love ya all!!!! I wouldn't mind getting those CDs.  I would love them.

"Bars and Baptism?"

Hello Family and Friends!!!                                12/10/12

Man what an amazing week!!!! We have big News!!!!! Jon Milward!!! Is going to be baptized on December 29th!!!! YEAH!!!! It's an amazing story on how he got his confirmation.... at a bar!!! Lol  He was talking to someone at the bar and the subject of religion came up and boom, he wants to be baptized!!!!
Man I'm all jumpy about it!!!

 Well I guess I'll go to Q & A Corner!!!!

Q1.  Have you put up your Christmas Decorations?  Do you still have your little tree from last year?  Do you have some Christmas CDs?  Music is really the key to feeling the Christmas Spirit.

A1.  A few of them, the tree, the calendar and that's pretty much all. Yeah, I have a few CDs, but not a lot.

Q2.  How is the weather?  I heard you had tons of rain.  I hope it isn't too bad.  Do you still have a car?  Are you using your coat? Do you need any other winter clothing?

A2.  It rained a bit, but now its Sunny today!!!! Yes, thank goodness I’m still in a car area. I hope I never have to bike up here. Yeah, I’m wearing my coat.  No, I don’t really need any winter clothing.

Q3.   Grandma was asking if you have had any experiences that involved dogs?  Rebekah has had some bad experiences with dogs in El Salvador.  I know you had mentioned one of the homes you visited had dogs.  I’m just curious if Missionaries feel about dogs like mail carriers do? lol

A3.  If you count cuddling with members dogs then yeah, but other than that, dogs aren’t really a problem. Missionaries just have to be faster than their companion. lol

Q4.   How are all your investigators?  How is Kyle and Jon doing?  Have you had any commit to Baptism yet?  Did any show up to Church yesterday?

A4.  They are well. Kyle, we're still been having trouble with him. John is getting baptized in December, Yes!

Q5.   What was the best thing about this past week?  Did anything happen or did you hear anything that truly motivated you this past week?  How many lessons did you teach this past week?  How is Elder Miller doing?  Is he getting any renewed enthusiasm or motivation?  What can we do to help both of you feel energized and motivated?

A5.   The Baptism announcement really made my day.  Nothing really motivated me, just the baptismal announcement. We taught 21 lessons.  Elder Miller is doing well and we’re good now.  Little by little he seems to be getting more motivated.  There is nothing you can do really, but just say a lot of prayers.

Q6.  Are you getting lots of dinner invitations?  Have you had any new foods lately?  Do you have a Costa Vida in Paradise?  We still haven't been there to eat, but it is on our "to do list".

A6.  Oh yeah, a LOT!!! We have had a few new foods, but not that I can name off the top of my head. No, we don’t, but I wish, I wish we had a Costa Vida.  You had better try it.

Well that's all I have to say for this letter.
Love ya all!!!!

Short and Sweet

Hello Family and Friends                                          12/3/12
Sorry, I'm not on my e-mail speed.  People like to be on the computer, so another email that is short and sweet.

Let's just do Q & A CORNER!!!!

Q1.   How was Thanksgiving?  Did you have dinner with a member family?  What was your favorite part?  Did you get any leftovers to take home?

A1.   It was ok.  We didn't have a member dinner because they had to cancel because they forgot. We just hung around with other missionaries.  It was an all day P-DAY, playing card games and board games.   We did in fact have Thanksgiving the day before.

Q2.   Have you gotten any new investigators?  How are Kyle and Jon doing?  What was a growing experience you had with your lessons this past week?  What was something new you learned?

A2.   Our Neighbor is our new investigator.  Kyle, we haven't met with yet and Jon is doing awesome.  Our lessons taught me about the power of good talks.  I learned the importance of not losing a planner.

Q3.   Thanks for the ideas about gifts for Christmas.  I forgot to ask what your sizes are for pants, shirts, garments, shoes etc?  I also forgot to ask where Elder Miller is from?  What is his first name?  How great that you both are losing weight and staying healthy.  Do you both like Nutella, granola bars, jerky etc.  I would be happy to send a little of that your way.

A3.  My pants are 36 waist, large shirt, 9 and a half shoes.  Elder Miller is from Twin Falls, ID.  His first name is Bryson.  Yeah, I'm down to 197 lbs. Yep, yep, and yep we both like all of those things!

Q4.  How was Sunday?  Did anyone come to Church that you invited or are teaching?  What was your message from Church?  Tell us about a member in your ward that inspires or motivates you?
A4.    It was good.  Yeah, most of our investigators came to Church.  The message at Church was the importance of the scriptures and the words of the Prophets.  Brother Titus inspires and motivates me.  By the way, Brother Titus’s house is where we are going to skype from at Christmas.

Q5.   Are you reading your 6 pages a day from the Book of Mormon?  I like President Weston's Challenge and I plan to do it too!  I am a bit behind because I have been sick but I am sure I can catch up fast.  Maybe the rest of the family will do the challenge as well.

A5.  Yeah, I think the challenge is awesome, but I did fall behind a couple time so I have a lot of catching up to do.

Q6.   How often do you interview with President Weston?  Do you tell him about your concerns and challenges?  Does he seem to know what you need?  Are you the senior companion and do you do the reports to President Weston?  Do you feel like he is aware of your companionship and the work you are doing?

A6.  We interview with President Weston every other transfer, so this transfer we will be having interviews. Nah, I can get over it. Yeah, President seems to know what we need, but you know me “Endure to the End”. Nope, Elder Miller is still the senior companion, but we do reports together. Yeah, I'm sure he is aware of our companionship and the challenges that involves. We are doing well.  We now have 6 more weeks together. Transfers came and we're still together, so “Endure to the End”.

Q7.  What happened with Transfers this week?  Are you happy with what happened? I am eager to hear about it all.

A7.  Oh, yeah.  We're still together.

Q8.   How has the weather been?  Today has been wild and windy.  Gusts up to 50 miles an hour, and now it is raining.  I hope you have had better weather than that, although I noticed that it rains there a lot!  I hope you are staying as dry as you can.

A8.  The weather is wet, VERY WET!!!! LIKE 12 INCHES OF RAIN, WHOO HOO!!!!!

So, I have to go.  People want to email.  Know that I love you all and wish to hear from all of you.  I'm sorry that I never get back.... crazy busy stuff.

Love ya,
      Elder Nathan Morris
