Hello
Family and Friends!!!! 2/11/13
It’s
been 18 months... thinking about 18 months since I was called to be apart of
the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles... Wait... hang on...(Chainsaw, Hammer)....
there. It’s actually been 18 months since I began my Mission in the California
Roseville Mission. It’s insane to think about, just as insane as being called
as an Apostle at the young age of 30ish. I guess I should get to the part that
everyone loves... “MISSIONARY WEEKLY”!!!!!
Missionary Weekly
Welcome
to “Missionary Weekly” where we talk with future Church Leaders!!!! Today, we see how a few feet can make a big
difference.... also... contacting going bad and what could happen!!! All this
and more on “Missionary Weekly”!!!
February 5,
2013 - How is it that when we go contacting that it never goes as planned even
with the lessons? We had a lesson
with a man named Rich Brown. We
thought it would be a good lesson especially with one of our members there, but
it didn't go as planned. It was a
light amount of arguing as well as a little dash of Bashing, with a
spoon full of getting nowhere. We
are debating whether we should drop him, but we want to give it one more
attempt.
February 6, 2013 -... I think I should probably skip this day... Not much happened
this day, just trying to contact people. We were going to have a lesson with
Victoria this night, but she had to
cancel. We decided to try and
visit her later that night. Before we did Elder Himmer looked at our area map
and saw that she is just barely outside of our area by like a few feet. That's
sad, but we quickly went over to the Ekin’s home (her fellow-shippers). They
said that they (Victoria and her Boyfriend currently in Baton Rouge) are
planning on moving to Louisiana in the summer. They said it’s best to teaching her until they actually
move.
February 7,
2013 - District Meeting!!! We talked on how to teach the Apostasy, not
much to say in the area, just that the Lord's Church was taken off the earth
when Jesus Christ and the Twelve Apostles died and many Churches were formed
with different doctrines and teachings. We also had a lesson with Kyle Jordan.
He is the 12 year old I spoke about before. We taught the Plan of Salvation. I felt that the lesson didn't go as well as it should. (*see
what happens the next day.) We
also had La cameda's with one of my favorite family's ever...(Bam bam bam...)
THE ATKINS!!!!!!! BOO YA!!!! I miss them so much and it was great to see them
again!!!!!
February 8-10,
2013 - The rest of the Week was contacting and visiting. On the 8th we ran into a real jerk. He
wouldn't let any of us speak at all, even when he had a question. He would keep
interrupting us, jerk. * Oh and Kyle dropped us, I was sad and disappointed.
That's
all for “Missionary weekly”. Now
it’s time for Q & A CORNER!!!!!!
Q1. What's the weather like? Elder James Beck got
the huge “Nemo” storm. He was snowed in for two days and without power,
but he survived just fine. They did tons of shoveling for neighbors and
investigators.
A1.
It is warm and sunny, 60s were the highs. I'm glad that James is doing fine.
Q2. How are all your investigators? Do you find it
harder to teach former investigators? Why do you think they are
investigating the Church again if they did not commit to Baptism the first
time? Do you prepare lessons differently for a former than for a new
investigator?
A2. They are fine. Formers are a little bit harder to
teach. Sometimes they aren't
prepared the first time they are taught, but later on something could happen
and sparks their interest again. You never really know what happens to bring
them back as investigators.
Q3. Did you ever have dinner with Travis Rathburn and
teach his neighbor? What did you have for dinner? What is his
neighbor's name? Is she a potential baptism? I know she asked was
asking questions and that sounded promising.
A3.
The Neighbor didn't show up sadly. We had Chinese Food!! That was
great!!!
Q4. Do you still work out? What does Elder Himmer
like to do for exercise? Are you both trying to eat right and taking
vitamins. It is important to stay physically strong as well as
spiritually strong. Exercise also helps with the mental attitude. A
little boost in the serotonin can make for a more cheerful companion.
lol
A4.
Every now and then we get the workout in. We go to the Gym and we do the same
stuff I was doing before. Well,
sometimes we do.
Q5.
Do you need anything specific? I sent t-shirts in your package.
They are probably way too big but they will be good enough for p-day.
What do you have planned for p-day today? Are you keeping up
with all the domestic chores? Hope you have some fun and relaxation today too.
A5. Not really, right now we are doing fine. I'm good till I get transferred, which
will be the 19th of this month. Today we are going on a hike with the entire
district.
Q6. What was the best part of your week? What
was something that concerned you or was on your mind this past week? What
was a journal worthy moment this past week? Did you record your successes
and struggles in your journal? You know you are paving the way for Martin
and all your experiences will be important to him soon.
A6. Take your pick and fill in the blanks. **Just refer to “Missionary Weekly”.
Hey
I got to go, LOVE YA!!!!!
Elder
Morris
