"Rainy Days"

Hello Family and Friends,                                                     11/19/12
I am so sorry that I didn't email last week. Things have been SUPER crazy!!!

It is time for a special “Missionary Weekly”.

“Missionary Weekly”

Baptism, one of the biggest!!! - Sis. Franks had her baptism last Saturday. It was SUPER big!!! We had about 40 people there and about a third of them were Non – Members.  It was awesome!!! It went off very well, the spirit was strong there.

Rainy Days, Sick times - Man, the sickness is spreading through the mission. lol Miller just hasn't been well.  He gets sick on and off, but he's doing better now.  We've been getting a lot of rain!!! I mean A LOT OF RAIN!!! I haven't been sick much, yet.

Jon Milward - Jon is doing well, but still a tough cookie to crack. Kyle is doing well too.  We were going to have a lesson with him this week, but they had to cancel.  Both are progressing well.

ZONE CONFERENCE - We also had a Zone Conference this week. We talked about the missionary increase, and President Weston issued a challenge to us to read 6 pages out of the Book of Mormon everyday from now till February.  We are to finish it.  We also talked about the www.mormon.org/christmas web page that is going up after Thanksgiving on November 26th. Check it out, it sounds cool.

That's it for “Missionary Weekly”; time to go to Q&A CORNER!!!!

Q1.   Did you have two Baptisms last Saturday?  Did you perform either of the ordinances?  How did Sister Franks feel about the day?  How did you feel about the day?

A1. No we just had one. No, her son did the ordinance, Brother Brian Herring.  She really enjoyed it a lot. It was amazing.

Q2.   Did you get snow this past week?  Did you get any of the storms that we had?  How do you feel about driving in snow and rain?  Do you drive often?  Who does most of the driving, you or Elder Miller?

A2. Nope, but we did get rain. I'm ok with driving. Miller drives most of the time.

Q3.   I'm sorry I don't know who your friends are so I don't know who to follow and share information about.  I can tell you that Hannah Holladay received her mission call.  She is going to Kennewick, Washington (where Evonne Guzzle is serving).  Sonja Morris is waiting for her call.  Any advice you would like me to pass along to Hannah?  Maybe you could write her a letter, she doesn't leave till January 16th.  Is there anyone specific you would like me to find out about for you?

A3. That’s cool about Hannah! Yeah, um I would tell her to study PMG and the Book of Mormon.  I might also tell her to prepare to be hosed at the MTC!!! There isn’t really anyone specific I’d like to hear about except maybe just Doug and everyone you know, I guess.

Q4.   I do have a little sad news.  Grandma's sister, Aunt Sharon's husband passed away.  My Uncle Larry.  I know you have met him several times but it would be hard to remember him, I'm sure.  He had Alzheimer and he was not doing well so it was a blessing for him.  We will all miss him though.  Have you had to teach anyone who had lost a family member recently?  It is a chance to share a very important part of the gospel.  What is the hardest lesson you teach to your investigators?

A4. Not really, well not lost from death. The hardest lesson to teach would probably be the Word of Wisdom because people just can't give up their addictions.

Q5.   When is Elder Miller's Birthday?  When is his release date? Has he been out as long as you or longer?  What is his favorite treat or something that he might enjoy?  Is there anything you are want or need?  What would make your day if you got it in the mail?

A5.  March 26th is Elder Miller’s Birthday. He goes home Sept. 21, 2013. I've been out longer by one month. I really don’t know what he likes.  He would like anything healthy, I guess.  We've both been trying to lose weight. I'm now at 198 lbs. I'm no longer in the 200's. WHOO HOO!!!! I’m still dropping too!!! Let’s see, something I want is the CD I asked for, the “Eclipse Christmas”, White socks, a new bath Towel, I don't know what else. Oh, jeans I need new jeans. I think that's it.

Q6.   What have you been studying?  Have you read any of those little books we bought in the set, Jesus the Christ, Truth restored etc?  A girl that is leaving in December asked me, if she really needed those books.  I was just wondering if you read them or have read any of them?  Have you read any books that you feel are very helpful and inspirational?

A6.  Yeah, I finish “Our Search for Happiness” and “Our Heritage”.  I’m working on “True to the Faith” and “Jesus the Christ”. Oh yeah, those books really do help to understand the gospel very well. They really make you think. Yeah, “Jesus the Christ” is especially important to have.

Q7.  You asked for the 7th question.  What was the best part of your week?  What was the worst part of your week?  What kept you so busy last week that you could not email us?  I am a Mom and no email makes me nervous.  Are you getting along with Elder Miller?  I have had some motherly vibes and hope you will confide in me about your companionship.

A7. The rain was the best part of my week. Driving to Redding was the worst part of the week. We were trying to get a hitch on the car and it was taking forever.  We were busy working with less-actives and we had to save miles for the trip to Redding.

Well got to go. Until Next time,

"Rainy Halloween"

Hello Family and Friends,                                     11/5/12
Man, it feels like forever since I emailed you guys. It has been a very good week with work and such, especially with Halloween. Well, I guess I better head to “Missionary Weekly”.

Missionary Weekly

October 30, 2012 – Feeling a little pre-Halloween anxiety, well not really. We were going to have a lesson with Sister Franks, but she was feeling sick and had to cancel.  She is still in the running for Baptism on November 10th.

October 31, 2012 - Halloweeeeennnn was crappy. It pretty much rained hard, non-stop all evening. It was crap and Oh, Bob Glass dropped us that day. L

November 01, 2012 – Halloween after-party? Not.  Diet starts today. Today was a lesson with Kyle. It went very well. We watched the “Restoration” and he really liked it.

Well, actually that was pretty much it for this week. Not much happened this week. It was a slow week for us missionaries. The other missionary was sick and for some reason he was stuck at our place.  Thank goodness we didn't get sick as well. lol

Sorry mom that my emails are not like they were before. Things have been a little too lax.... well not really lax, just the same stuff over and over.  It just gets tiring to talk about it.

         Lets head to Q&A Corner!!!

Q1.   Are you still on track for 3 Baptisms on November 10th? How are all of your investigators?  Did they all come to Church this week?  I truly enjoy baptisms and when I see men your age baptizing their siblings it always touches my heart.  Wish I had seen the first time you preformed that ordinance.

A1.  Nope, just the one, Sis. Franks on November 10th!!! All the investigators are well, except Bob, who dropped us. They all came to church, well at least the ones we teach and a few others as well.

Q2.   Has the political mumbo jumbo caused any problems for the work?  I'm sure that people are very focused on the election right now.  Has that changed your approach when tracting or contacting potential investigators?  I will be glad when it is all over and done. How do you feel about all of it?

A2.  Politics have not really caused problems. Nope, we haven’t changed our approach. I feel that whoever wins better not screw the world up! L

Q3.   Do you still have a car?  Is your area more rural or urban?  Do you travel far for Church and district or Zone Meetings?  How would you describe Paradise?  Is it a small town or large city?  Is it more forest or desert etc?

A3.  YEAH, we still have a car!!! Paradise is more rural. We do travel for zone meetings, but not for church or district meetings. It’s a lot like Idaho. Paradise is a small town and in the forest.

Q4.   Martin and Crissy are excited about Halo 4 coming out tomorrow.  Martin wants to know what you would like to hear about the game?  I am thinking that you should avoid any discussions or thinking about games.  Stay focused on your mission and the work you should be doing.

A4.  EVERY FRICKEN THING!!!!!! Sorry mom, but I would like to hear a lot!!! lol. J  I won't let it distract me, though. lol

Q5.   How are you and Elder Miller feeling both emotionally and physically?  Are you staying healthy and motivated?  Do you do some exercising each day and eating well?  Stay on top of your Asthma and Allergies.  Take good care of yourself as the season changes and you know the flu starts running around again.  Do missionaries get to have the flu shot?  Just wondering.

A5.  Doing well. Yeah, we are staying healthy and motivated. Yeah, we are doing a “no fat” diet and working out every morning. No flu shots, that I know of, but we’ll see.

Q6.   I heard on the news tonight that applications for new missionaries are up from 700 per week to 4,000 per week.  More than half of those are girls (Sister Missionaries).  What do you think Crissy thinks about that?  Hannah put her papers in a few weeks ago.  She should have her call soon.  Sonja Morris is going to put her papers in this coming March.  I haven't heard of anyone in our ward, but a few from our Stake.  Do you think the drop in age is good and helps?

A6.  I'm not sure, but I think it will help. The Missionary work is going to explode!!!

Ok, that's it for this email.  Safety and Peace!!!!!!
Love,
Elder Morris
